Özet
ÖZET Bu araştırmada, önce yabancı uyruklu ve Türk üniversite öğ rencilerinin problemleri karşılaştırılmış, daha sonra da, yabancı uyruklu üniversite öğrencilerinin problemlerine etki eden bazı de ğişkenler incelenmiştir. Çalışmada öncelikle yabancı uyruklu ve Türk üniversite öğ rencilerinin problemleri, genel olarak ve problem alanlarına göre karşılaştırılmış; daha sonra da, öğrencilerin problemleri bazı değiş kenlere göre karşılaştırılarak incelenmiştir. Bu değişkenler cinsi yet, yaş, annenin ve babanın eğitim düzeyi, ailenin gelir düzeyi, sınıf düzeyi, akademik başarı düzeyi, fakülte düzeyi ve yaşamları nın çoğunu geçirdikleri yerleşim birimleridir. Çalışmada bir de, yabancı uyruklu üniversite öğrencilerinin problemlerine etki eden bazı değişkenler incelenmiştir. Bu değiş kenler vatandaşı olduğu ülke, devam ettiği üniversite, Türkiye'ye geliş yılı, türkiye'de nerede kaldığı, Türkçe hazırlık kurslarına katıl ma durumu, Türkçe'yi kullanma derecesi, Türkiye'de yaşamaktan memnun olma durumu ve ülkesine gidiş sıklığıdır. Araştırmanın örneklemini 1996-1997 öğretim yılında Ankara, Başkent, Bilkent, Gazi, Hacettepe Üniversiteleri ve Ortadoğu Tek nik Üniversitesi ile Gülhane Askeri Tıp Akademisi'nde öğrenim gören 624 yabancı uyruklu üniversite öğrencisi ile karşılaştırmaii grubu olarak seçilen 626 Türk öğrenci olmak üzere toplam 1250 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada öğrencilerin problemleri“Problem Tarama Envan teri”ile öğrencilerin niteliklerine ilişkin bilgiler ise“Kişisel-Bilgi Formu”ile elde edilmiştir. Araştırmada elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel analizlerinde“Varyans Analizi”tekniği, t ve Scheffe testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular şöyle özetlenebilir; 1. Yabancı uyruklu ve Türk üniversite öğrencilerinin sorunla rının öncelikle okul yaşamı ile ilgili olduğu ve bu alanı benlik ve iç yaşam, aile yaşamı, gelecek yaşamı, sağlık ve beden gelişimi ve ar kadaşlık yaşamı ile ilgili sorunların izlediği ortaya çıkmıştır. 2. Yabancı uyruklu üniversite öğrencilerinin problem envante rinin tümünden ve alt ölçeklerinden aldıkları puanların ortalama ları, Türk öğrencilerin aynı envantere ait puanlarının ortalamala rından anlamlı düzeyde yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Yabancı uyruklu öğrencilerin Türk öğrencilerden daha fazla sorunları oldu ğu ortaya çıkmıştır. 3. Yabancı uyruklu ve Türk üniversite öğrencilerinin sorunla rının; cinsiyet, annenin ve babanın eğitim düzeyi gibi değişkenler den etkilendiği; yaş, ailenin gelir düzeyi, sınıf düzeyi, akademik ba-İÜ şan düzeyi, öğrenim gördüğü fakülte ve yerleşim birimi gibi değiş kenlerden ise etkilenmediği ortaya çıkmıştır. 4. Yabancı uyruklu üniversite öğrencilerinin sorunlarının öğ renim gördükleri üniversite, Türkiye'ye geliş yılı, Türkiye'de kalınan yer ve ülkesine gidiş sildiği gibi değişkenlerden etkilendiği, vatan daşı olduğu ülke, Türkçe'yi kullanma derecesi, Türkçe hazırlık kurslarına katılma durumu ve Türkiye'de yaşamaktan memnun olma durumu gibi değişkenlerden ise etkilenmediği ortaya çıkmış tır.

iv SUMMARY In this research, first of all, the problems of international students and Turkish University students have been compared and later on some variables which influence the problems of international university students have been studied. In the research, to begin with, the problems of foreign university students and Turkish university students have been generally compared in accordance with the problem areas, and after this, student problems have been researched by comparing them with the following variables: sex, age, education, the educational level of parents', income level of the parents, level of class, level of academic success, and the level of settlements where they have spent most of their lives. In addition, in this research, the following variables which influence the foreign student problems are being analyzed: the country of citizenship, the university they have attended, the year of their coming to Turkey, their place of settlement in Turkey, the case of their attendance of the cources for the prep clases, the efficiency level of their control on Turkish, to be happy in living in Turkey, and the frequency of going to his own country. The exemplification of the research consists of 1250 students in total. Among these there are 624 foreign students from the Gülhane Military Medical Academy, from the Middle East TechnicalUniversity, from the Hacettepe University, from the Gazi University, from the Bilkent University, from the başkent University, and from the Ankara University in the 1996-97 term, and 626 Turkish students for a group of comparison. In this research the problems of the students have been obtained from the Problem Checklist and the information related to the qualifications of the studends has been gathered by way of a questionnaire. In the statistical analysis of the obtained information for this research variance analysis-ANOVA technique, the T-test and Scheffe test are being utilized. The discoveries made available in this research can be summarized as follows: 1. It has been discovered that the problems of foreign students are primarily related to school life, the problems of inner life, family life, future life development of health and body, and interpersonal relations. 2. From the total number of the problem inventory of foreign university students, the averages of the points they got from the lower scales are meaningfully higher than the average of the points of the Turkish students who belong to the same inventory. Furthermore, it has been revealed that foreign students have more problems than Turkish students.vi 1 3. It has been discovered that the problems of foreign and Turkish university students have been influenced by the variables such as sex, the educational level of the parents; on the other hand, it has also become clear that the same students haven't been affected by the varibles such as age, the level of the family, income, the level of their social status, the level of their academic achievement, the campus where they live. 4. It has been discovered that the foreign students are influenced by the university they attend, year of their entry into Turkey, the place of settlement in Turkey, and the frequency of visiting home country. But they are riot influenced from such variables as the citizenship of his own country, the efficiency in using the Turkish language, the case attending the Turkish prep courses, and being happy in living in Turkey.
