Dr. Necati TAŞKARA Bu çalışmada ısı iletim ve titreşim problemleri gibi literatürün önemli problemlerine hazırlık teşkil etmesi bakımından regüler Sturm-Liouville sistemleri incelenmiştir. Mühendislik ile matematiğin arakesiti olan uygulamalı matematik, fizik ve mühendisliğin birçok probleminin modellenmesi ve çözümünün bulunabildiği bir bilim dalıdır. Sınır değer problemlerinin spektral analizi son yıllarda üzerinde en çok çalışılan konu haline gelmiştir. İkinci mertebeden lineer diferansiyel denklemlere ait teklik teoremi ispatlandı. Sturm-Liouville sistemlerinin spektral analizini yapmak için gerekli olan temel tanım veteoremler verildikten sonra regüler Sturm-Liouville sistemlerinin incelenmesini yaptık, a < x < b için, p(x) > 0 ve s(x) > 0 olmak üzere, £(p(x)|0 + (q(x) + Xs(x))y = O şeklinde tanımlanan regüler Sturm-Liouville sisteminin sınır şartlan, özdeğer ve özvektör gibi temel kavramları verildi. Sistemin çözümünü, ortogonal set oluşturacak şekilde özvektörl erinin seriye açılımı şeklinde ifade ettik. Çalışmanın sonunda Sturm-Liouville problemlerinin uygulama sahası olan ısı iletimi ile ilgili örneklere yer verilmiştir.

Prof. Dr. Necati TAŞKARA In this study regular Sturm-Liouville systems have been studied in order to form a preparation for the important problems of the literature such as heat conduction and vibration. Applied mathematics which is the intersection of engineering and mathematics is a branch of science that many problems of physics and engineering can be modeled and solved. The spectral analysis of boundary value problems has become one of the main subjects of the recent years' researches. The uniqueness theorem from second order linear differential equation was proved. inHaving given the basic definitions and theorems to make spectral analysis of Sturm-Liouville systems, we studied the regular Sturm-Liouville systems. For a < x < b and p(x) > 0 and s(x) > 0,the equation ^fp(x)^l + (q(x) + ^s(x))y = 0 Which is defined as regular Sturm-Liouville system the boundary conditions and its basic terms such as eigenvalues and eigenvectors were given. We expressed the solution of the system in the form of an orthogonal set which is the serial opening of eigenvectors. In the last section of our study, some examples related with heat conduction which is the application area of Sturm-Liouville problems were given.
