95 SUMMARY Boris Vian, one of the most distinguished contemporary writers, produced many litterary works of different genres. Among his works his novels are the most remarkable. Vian, having complated ten novels, published four of them under the tittle of Vernon Sullivan. However four of the rest his six novels are quite appreciable. Eventually“L'Ecume des Jours”has place among these four novels and it deserves being his masterpiece. Vian' s first novel“L'Ecume des Jours can be studied with its many various aspects. As soon as we being reading it, we realise it is completely a distinguished novel fascinating the reader. Different characteristics of this novels are enough reason to make us study this novels. However we tried to study the fantastic features inthis work. Us study deals with ”Univers Fantastique“ that Vian created in this novel. On one hand, we tried to study the fantastic aspects in this novel and on the other hand we displayed the different points of these aspects. However we tried to depict how the fantastic and supernaturel events symbolise a real event and how the writer reflects them skilfully for the reader. We also tried to revial the fantastic sides of the characters, of the time, of the place, and of the other objects and in addition, of some flowers and animals. As a conclusion, we realised that ”L'Ecume des Jours" is an important novel which includes a fantastic univers, though96 it is not completely a novel of fantasy. The writer reflects absurd and extremities of his time in a fantastic narration. As a result, we tried to bring out the symbolic meanings that exist within fantasy.
