Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, ortaöğretim öğrencilerinin geleceğe yönelik tutumları ve algılanan sosyal destek düzeylerinin akademik erteleme ile ilişkisini incelemektir. Bu kapsamda 250 kız, 97 erkek olmak üzere toplamda 347 ortaöğretim öğrencisi araştırmaya dahil edilmiştir. Çalışmaya ilişkin veriler Kişisel Bilgi Formu, Akademik Erteleme Ölçeği, Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği ve Geleceğe Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği aracılığıyla toplanmıştır. Veri analizi değişkenler arasında Pearson korelasyon analizi, Bağımsız örneklem t-testi ve regresyon analizleri ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda erkek öğrencilerin kız öğrencilere göre daha çok akademik erteleme davranışı sergiledikleri tespit edilirken akademik ertelemenin algılanan sosyoekonomik düzeye göre farklılaşmadığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmada öğrencilerin geleceğe yönelik tutumları ile akademik erteleme düzeyleri anlamlı ve negatif yönde bir ilişki içerisinde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Yani, öğrencilerin geleceğe yönelik pozitif tutumları yükseldikçe akademik ertelemeleri azalmaktadır. Bununla birlikte geleceğe yönelik tutum alt boyutlarından geleceği düşünme ve planlama, olumlu gelecek tasarımı/iyimserlik, yenilikçi olma ve geleceği yönetme alt boyutları akademik erteleme ile anlamlı ve negatif bir yönde ilişkiye sahip oldukları görülmüştür. Diğer taraftan algılanan sosyal destek ölçeğinin alt boyutlarından aileden alınan sosyal destek düzeyinin akademik erteleme ile anlamlı ve negatif yönde bir ilişki içerisinde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğrenciler, aileden algıladıkları sosyal destek arttıkça, daha az erteleme davranışı gösterme eğilimindedirler. Bu sonuçların beraberinde bireylerin arkadaş ve özel bir insandan algıladıkları sosyal destek düzeylerinin akademik erteleme ile ilişkili olmadığı tespit edilmiştir. Aileden alınan sosyal destek olumlu gelecek tasarımı/iyimserlik alt boyutlarının akademik ertelemeyi anlamlı biçimde yordadığı tespit edilmiştir.

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between secondary school students' attitudes towards the future and their perceived levels of social support, and academic procrastination. A total of 347 secondary school students, including 250 females and 97 males, were included in the study. Data for the study were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Academic Procrastination Scale, the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale, and the Future-Oriented Attitude Scale. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson correlation analysis, the independent samples t-test, and regression analyses. The results of the study revealed that male students exhibited more academic procrastination behavior than female students, while academic procrastination was found not to differ according to socioeconomic status. The study found a significant and negative correlation between students' attitudes towards the future and their levels of academic procrastination. In other words, as students' positive attitudes towards the future increase, their academic procrastination decreases. Furthermore, it was observed that the sub-dimensions of future-oriented attitudes—thinking about and planning for the future, positive future design/optimism, being innovative, and managing the future—exhibited a significant and negative relationship with academic procrastination. On the other hand, it was found that the level of social support perceived from family, one of the subdimensions of the perceived social support scale, has a significant and negative relationship with academic procrastination. Students tend to exhibit less procrastination as the social support they perceive from their families increases. In addition to these findings, it was determined that the levels of social support perceived from friends and a significant other were not associated with academic procrastination. It was found that social support received from family significantly predicted the sub-dimensions of positive future design/optimism regarding academic procrastination.
