Özet
Bu çalışma; Silifke ve Erdemli ilçesi kıyılarında su altı dalış turizmini çeşitli boyutlarıyla ele almayı amaçlamaktadır. Araştırma ile su altı dalış turizmine katılan balık adamların görüşleri doğrultusunda bu kıyılardaki su altı dalış turizminin mevcut durumunu değerlendirmek, mekânsal etkilerini ortaya koymak, yaşanan sorunlar çerçevesinde dalış turizminin geleceğine yön verilmesi açısından gereken verilerin sağlanmasını amaçlanmaktadır. Teknolojinin gelişmesiyle alternatif turizm çeşitlerine yönelme artmıştır. Dünyanın birçok bölgesinde tercih edilen alternatif turizm çeşitlerine bakıldığında su altı dalış turizminin en fazla tercih edilen alternatif turizm çeşitlerinden biri olduğu görülmektedir. Bu araştırmada Silifke ve Erdemli ilçesi kıyılarında su altı dalış turizminin mevcut durumu araştırılmış ve yöre su altı dalış turizmini etkileyen doğal ve beşeri etkenler, çekicilikler ile dalış mevkilerinin karakteristik özellikleri ortaya konulmuştur. Bununla birlikte Silifke ve Erdemli ilçesi kıyılarında dalış yapan yerli balık adamların görüşlerine başvurulmuştur. Toplam 357 balık adam ile anket yapılmıştır. Yöre kıyılarında su altı dalış turizmi paydaşlarıyla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu çerçevesinde görüşmeler de yapılmıştır. 5 dalış okulu yöneticisi 7 dalış eğitmeni olmak üzere 12 kişi ile görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan görüşmeler betimsel analiz yöntemi ile analiz edilmiştir. Anketlerin analizleri sonucunda balık adamların Silifke ve Erdemli ilçesi kıyılarının su altı dalış turizminde çekicilik yaratan unsurlar bakımından yüksek bir potansiyel gösterdiğini belirtmişlerdir. Ancak kıyı yapılarının yetersiz olması, tanıtım yetersizliği ve dalış okullarının sayısının az olması gibi sebeplerin dalış turizminin gelişimini sınırladığı görüşü ortaya çıkmıştır. Yöre kıyılarındaki izinsiz avlanmaların su altı faunasını ve dalış turizmini olumsuz etkilediği bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca yöre kıyılarında dalış mevkilerinde oluşabilecek baskıyı azaltmak amacıyla daha fazla yapay resif alanlarının oluşturulması gerektiği önerisi getirilmektedir.

This study aims to examine scuba diving tourism along the coasts of Silifke and Erdemli districts from various perspectives. The research seeks to assess the current state of scuba diving tourism in these coastal areas based on the views of divers and to identify its spatial impacts. Additionally, it aims to provide the necessary data to guide the future of diving tourism in light of the challenges faced. With the advancement of technology, there has been an increasing shift towards alternative forms of tourism. When looking at alternative tourism types preferred in many parts of the world, scuba diving tourism stands out as one of the most popular options. In this study, the current state of scuba diving tourism along the coasts of Silifke and Erdemli districts was investigated, and the natural and human factors affecting local scuba diving tourism, attractions, and the characteristic features of diving sites were identified. Additionally, the opinions of local divers who dive along the coasts of Silifke and Erdemli districts were consulted. A survey was conducted with a total of 357 divers. Semi-structured interviews were also held with stakeholders in the local scuba diving tourism industry. Interviews were conducted with 12 people, including 5 dive school managers and 7 dive instructors. The interviews were analyzed using the descriptive analysis method. As a result of the survey analyses, divers indicated that the coasts of Silifke and Erdemli districts have a high potential in terms of elements that create attraction for scuba diving tourism. However, issues such as inadequate coastal infrastructure, insufficient promotion, and the limited number of dive schools were seen as factors limiting the development of diving tourism. It was also found that illegal fishing activities along the local coasts negatively affect the underwater fauna and diving tourism. Furthermore, it was suggested that more artificial reef areas should be established to reduce potential pressure on the diving sites along the local coasts.
