SUMMARY Sejjad Hyder Yildirim's name is seen among the early novelist of Urdu Language; and he is famous for this reason. Doubtlessly a greater part of his work consists on his translation. The Indians took interest in Turko - Russian wars, Turko - Greek war, Tripoli Turko - Italian wars. Finally Turkish Independence wai draw their particular attention. Turkish wars and heroic stories gave Indians great courage. It cannot be denied that Turks had been a great example for the freedom oi the Indian people beside the political example set by the Turks. Literary field had been also an example for the Indian novelists. It has been noticed that Sejjad Hyder Yildirim while translating from Turkish, follows some rules. They can be summerized as follows: 1- He uses the words carefully that suite the Turkish equilances. 2- Fluency and simplicity is provided in the text. 3- The translations have been carried out in such a way that it is difficult to say whether they are original or translated from Turkish. In other words he transforms Turkish expressions and depiction in Indian culture. 4- In order to be romantic he ignors realities and creates imaginative spots. For example it is not possible to find date, pine free and bambo together. But he has brought these elements together in his novels. Sejjad Hyder Yildirim's wide knowledge played an outstanding role in translation in such a way that he has tinged Urdu literature with the general Turkish literature. Sejjad Hyder Yildirim had met Turkish scholars in Bagdad who turn to be a dawn for his interest in Turkish literature. Namık Kemal, Mehmet Celâl and Halide Edib are the persons by whom he is influenced much. Many French elements are dominant in the works which Sejjad Hyder Yildirim particulary transforms into Urdu Literature. It cannot be denied that Turks have played an outstanding roles in the development of urdu Literature. Sejjad Hyder has greatly influenced the modern type of Urdu text by translating Turkish novels into Urdu. Today his influence continues to exist in Urdu and Indian Literatures. 242
