SUMMARY DÖNDER,BURHANETTİN,“Justice in The Qur'an”M.A. dissertation, supervi sed by professor Ismail Cerrahoğhı, 1994, The University of Ankara. Justice is as old as the history of humanity.However, justice did not exist in every society at the same level. For example, justice was almmost absent in the Indian, Iraninan, Roman and Pre-islamic Arap societies. Instead, those societies were dominated by force, injustice and inequality. This situation was in place before the advent of islam in such a situation, the Qur'an intervened to establish the justice in human society. The Qur'anic concept of justice is a legal and a social one. The Qur'an applies its concept of justice by appealing to the minds and conscience of people. It does not do so by using force and brutality. In conclusion, if the Qur'anic understanding of justice was pursued by the world today, there would be no oppession, injustice ortordure on the face of the planet. The people of the world would not suffer, and would obtain the prosperity of this world and the Hereafter..sS^k
