Özet (Çeviri)
ABSTRACT The present work pursues the meaning of,“caliphate”and“caliphate of men”in the Qur'an. Man, thouhh matiierially a small creature, represents various qualities of the universe, Thus, man should be considered as a whole. Despite some points of contradictions in man's nature, God called him“caliph”, To pursue the question what God meant by“caliphate of man”will contribute to a better understanding of man. Man's status as“caliph”is related to three points: God, man, and universe. Man is caliph of God in the sense that he follows the commands of God in this world which is a part of the universe. This is forms the first step of“relationship”between the three points in question. The second aspect of caliphate is that“man”perpetuates his generations, i.e. mankind. Thus man's caliphate leads to the idea that a human civilization should exist throughout the history of mankind. The third point with regart to“caliphate' is the relations ship of man to the universe. Here, there exists a sovereignty of man in the universe. Hence, ”man“ is given the control over the universe. ”Man“s nature has the qualities to pursue a career of caliphate. Here, caliphate of man must be considered together with his duty to worship God. The present work covers the ideas of analysts about man's caliphate. According to the analysts, nobody may claim his monopoly over the status of ”caliph of God“. In this yconnection, the problem of caliphate has been evaluated without its political context. Although we do not claim to have reached an ultimate conclusion of this sensitive issue, we maintain the point that man is ”caliph" of God.
