SUMMARY The investigation field is the Ibik Gorge, one of the cleft-valleys on Kızılırmak River. It is 22 km.s away from the north-west of Çorum. One part of the Ibik Gorge is in the Central Anatolia Region and the other part in the Middle Blacksea Region. This gorge connects Salur and Osmancık basins which are different in characteristics. Ibik is“connecting gorge”that is formed by backwards corroding and by breaking. Altitude immediately increases from the base of Ibik Gorge and takes its highest point in Alagöz Hill (1713 m). Erosion and filling surfaces with three steps are seen on and around the mountains and hills which take place in thegorge. Investigation field is in a passing area from many ways. That is, climate of district is heither dry as it is in Central Anatolia nor dump as it is in Blacksea Region. Plant covering is formed by steppes in Salur village and its environment. There are destroyed forests in the north and on the higher sections. That region is in a transition period considering the anthropological and economical faetures. Because, in the south, around Salur village dry farming is done, whereas in the north and in the pass itself watery farming is important. In addition, in Salur villge and south of it houses are built from sun-dried briks with flat nofs. In the north, houses built from wood and flat are widespread. Taking applied geomorpfology into account, there are problems of landslip, erosion, rock falls and forest destruction in Ibik Gorge and its environment. 86
