Özet
ÖZET Bu araştırmada, ilköğretim 8. sınıflarda, harfli ifadelerle işlemler konusunun, bilgisayar destekli öğretim yöntemi ve geleneksel öğretim yöntemi ile işlenmesinin öğrenci başarısı üzerine etkileri incelenmiştir. Araştırma, 2001-2002 öğretim yılı, birinci dönemde Merkez İlköğretim Okulu ve 23 Ağustos İlköğretim Okulu'na devam eden 50, 8. sınıf öğrencisiyle yürütülmüştür. Her okuldan rastgele birer sınıf seçilmiş ve bu sınıflardan birer kontrol ve deney grubu oluşturulmuştur. Bilgisayar destekli öğretim öncesi deney ve kontrol gruplarının orta-2 matematik notları ve öntestten aldıkları puanlar kullanılarak ayrı ayrı yapılan bağımsız t-testine göre başarı düzeylerinde anlamlı bir fark olmadığı görülmüştür. Uygulamada, harfli ifadelerle işlemler konusu, deney grubunda Macromedia Autorvvare ortamında hazırlanan yazılım ile bilgisayar destekli öğretim yöntemi kullanılarak, kontrol grubunda ise geleneksel öğretim yöntemiyle sürdürülmüştür. Uygulamadan sonra deney ve kontrol gruplarına sontest uygulanmıştır. Merkez İlköğretim Okulu ile 23 Ağustos İlköğretim Okulu öğrencilerinin kontrol ve deney gruplarının öntest ve de sontest puanlarına göre aralarında anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığı tek yönlü varyans analizi ile sulanmıştır. Her iki okulunun deney ve kontrol grupları birleştirilerek tek deney ve tek kontrol grubu oluşturulmuştur. Sontest puanlarına göre deney ve kontrol grubunun matematik erişileri arasında anlamlı bir fark olup olmadığı bağımsız t-testi kullanılarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın ortaya koyduğu bulgular ışığında, bilgisayar destekli öğretim yönteminin geleneksel öğretim yöntemine göre daha etkili olduğu ve babasının eğitim düzeyi üniversite mezunu olan öğrencilerin, babasının eğitim düzeyi lise,ortaokul ve ilkokul olan öğrencilere göre daha başarılı oldukları görülmektedir. Araştırmanın sonucunda bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.

11 ABSTRACT In this research, effects of the method of Computer Assisted Instruction and Traditional Method of Instruction on Expressions the 8th grade students' academic achievement in mathematics were investigated. This research was carried out with 50 8th students who attended Merkez Primary School and 23 Ağustos Primary School in the first semester of 2001-2002 academic year. One class from Merkez Primary School and one class from 23 Ağustos Primary School were through random selection, an done experimental an done and control group were formed in each school. Before treatment, there was significant difference between the experimental groups through Computer Assisted Instruction and Expressions was studied through Traditional Method of Instruction in the control groups. After the treatment, the students in the experimental and control groups took the posttest. One way ANOVA was used to find out whether there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups according to the students' scores in the pretest and posttest. The experimental and control groups in each school were combined and thus, one experimental an done control group were formed. The Independent Samples T Test was used to find out whether there was a significant difference between the combined experimental groups and the combined control groups in both schools in terms of academic achievement in mathematics in the posttest. In the light of the findings of the research, it was revealed that the Computer Assisted Instruction was significantly more effective on mathematics achievement than the Traditional Method of Instruction, and it was revealed that the students whose fathers had higher education were significantly more successful than those students whose fathers attended High Schools, Secondary Schools or Primary Schools. Some suggestions were made based on the results of the research.
