Özet
II. Meşrutiyet Dönemi'nde millî şuuru güçlendirmek ve Osmanlı tarih yazımındaki boşluğu doldurmak amacıyla kurulan Tarîh-i Osmânî Encümeni (1909) bünyesinde kaleme alınan Osmanlı Tarihi adlı eserin çevirisi ve tahlili, bu tezin temel konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma, Osmanlı son dönem tarihçilerinden Necip Âsım (Yazıksız) ve Mehmed Ârif Bey'in Osmanlı kuruluş devrini ele alışlarını ve tarihçilik anlayışlarını, eser üzerindeki transkripsiyon yöntemlerini ve modern Türk tarih yazımındaki yerlerini incelemektedir. Tez,“Giriş”bölümünün ardından üç ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde, Necip Âsım ve Mehmed Ârif Bey'in hayatları ve eserleri alınmıştır. İkinci bölüm, ele alınan eserin muhtevasına odaklanarak, Osmanlı tarih yazımının temel tartışma konuları olan Osmanlı köken bilgisi (Kayı boyuna mensubiyet) ve kuruluş tartışmaları (Gaza tezi) bağlamındaki farklı görüşleri, Ertuğrul Gazi'nin Uç bölgesine yerleşimi, Dündar Bey'in katli, Koyunhisar Savaşı ve Bursa'nın fethi gibi hususlar ele alınmıştır. Necip Âsım'ın kullandığı kaynaklar (Âşıkpaşazâde Tarihi, Behcetü't-Tevârîh, Câmi'ut- Tevârîh, Hammer Tarihi vb.) tanıtılarak, müelliflerin tarih yazımında hangi bilimsel ve geleneksel araçları kullandığı ortaya konulmaktadır. Bu çalışma günümüz Türkçesine çevrilmemiş olan bu eserin çeviri ve analizi ile dönemin tarihçilik anlayışını ve erken Osmanlı tarihine dair menkıbe-rivayet-bilimsel metot ilişkisini ortaya koyarak literatüre önemli bir katkı sağlamayı amaçlamaktadır.

The translation and analysis of the work entitled Ottoman History, written within the framework of the Ottoman History Committee (1909), which was established during the Second Constitutional Era to strengthen national consciousness and fill the gap in Ottoman historiography, forms the main subject of this thesis. The study examines the approaches of late Ottoman historians Necip Âsım (Yazıksız) and Mehmed Ârif Bey to the founding period of the Ottoman Empire, their understanding of historiography, the transcription methods used in the work, and their place in modern Turkish historiography. Following the“Introduction”section, the thesis consists of three main sections. The first chapter covers the lives and works of Necip Âsım and Mehmed Ârif Bey. The second chapter focuses on the content of the work in question, examining the different views on the fundamental debates in Ottoman historiography, namely the origins of the Ottomans (membership of the Kayı tribe) and the founding debate (the Gaza thesis), as well as Ertuğrul Gazi's settlement in the Uç region, the murder of Dündar Bey, the Battle of Koyunhisar, and the conquest of Bursa. The sources used by Necip Âsım (Âşıkpaşazâde Tarihi, Behcetü't-Tevârîh, Câmi'ut-Tevârîh, Hammer Tarihi, etc.) are introduced, revealing which scientific and traditional tools the authors used in their historiography. This study aims to make an important contribution to the literature by translating and analyzing this work, which has not been translated into modern Turkish, and by revealing the historiographical understanding of the period and the relationship between legend, narration, and scientific method in early Ottoman history.
