Özet
Bu doktora tezi, çevre sorunlarıyla mücadele yeni bir aktör olarak ortaya çıkan çevre koruma kooperatiflerinin sınıflandırmasını ve tanımlamasını ortaya koymaktadır. Çalışma, toplumsal sorumluluk ilkesi çerçevesinde çevre koruma kooperatiflerinin hem Türkiye'de hem de dünyada gelişen yeni bir kooperatif türü olarak sürdürülebilir kalkınma paradigmasındaki yerini ve önemini incelemektedir. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde kooperatifçiliğin gelişimi, çevre koruma örgütlenmeleri ve sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın boyutları ele alınmış ve kooperatifler ile sürdürülebilir kalkınma arasındaki ilişki kuramsal çerçevede değerlendirilmiştir. İkinci bölümde, betimsel analiz yöntemi kullanılarak Eurostat'ın CEPA ve CReMA sınıflandırmaları çerçevesinde çevre koruma temaları üzerinden çevre koruma kooperatifleri sınıflandırılması yapılmış ve çevre koruma odağında faaliyet gösteren bu kooperatifler“çevre koruma kooperatifleri”kavramsallaştırılarak yeni bir kooperatif türü önerisi ortaya atılmıştır. Uluslararası örnekler ve Türkiye'de yürütülen alan araştırması doğrultusunda, çevre koruma kooperatiflerinin çevre kirliliğinin önlenmesi, atık yönetimi, geri dönüşüm, yenilenebilir enerji üretimi ve ekosistemlerin korunması gibi çeşitli çevresel faaliyetler yürüttükleri tespit edilmiştir. Çevre koruma odağında olan bu kooperatiflerin genel olarak yapılan sınıflandırmaya uygun olduğu görülmüştür. Ayrıca çevre koruma kooperatiflerinin, kooperatifçilik ilkelerinden biri olan toplumsal sorumluluk ilkesi bağlamında önemi, toplumsal yarar odağında olmaları değerlendirilmiş ve sürdürülebilir kalkınma paradigmasında rolleri incelenmiştir. Tezin üçüncü bölümünde ise Türkiye'de çevre koruma kooperatiflerinin sürdürülebilir kalkınmadaki rolü ve toplumsal sorumluluk bağlamında ilişkisi karma araştırma yöntemi kullanılarak hem nicel hem de nitel araştırma veriler doğrultusunda ortaya konulmuştur. Bu bölümde sürdürülebilir kalkınma ve toplumsal sorumluluk hem kavramsal olarak hem de faaliyet ve uygulamalar kapsamında değerlendirilmiştir. Aynı zamanda Türkiye'de çevre koruma kooperatiflerinin karşılaştıkları engeller ve sorunlarda ortaya konulmuştur. Sonuç olarak bu tez, çevre koruma kooperatiflerinin hem sürdürülebilir kalkınma paradigmasının hem de kooperatifçiliğin dayanışmacı ruhunun önemli bir bileşeni olduğunu ortaya koymakta; çevresel, sosyal ve ekonomik boyutlarda yürüttükleri faaliyetler aracılığıyla hem ortaklarına hem de topluma sundukları katkılar sebebiyle çevre sorunlarıyla mücadelede yeni ve dikkate değer bir toplumsal aktör olarak değerlendirilmesi gerektiğini vurgulamaktadır.

This doctoral thesis presents the classification and definition of environmental protection cooperatives, which have emerged as a new actor in combating environmental problems. Within the framework of the principle of social responsibility, the study examines the place and importance of environmental protection cooperatives, both in Turkey and globally, as a developing type of cooperative within the sustainable development paradigm. The first part of this study examines the development of cooperatives, environmental protection organizations, and the dimensions of sustainable development, and evaluates the relationship between cooperatives and sustainable development within a theoretical framework. The second part, using descriptive analysis, classifies environmental protection cooperatives based on their environmental protection themes within the framework of Eurostat's CEPA and CReMA classifications. These cooperatives, operating with a focus on environmental protection, are conceptualized as“environmental protection cooperatives,”and a new type of cooperative is proposed. Based on international examples and field research conducted in Turkey, it has been determined that environmental protection cooperatives carry out various environmental activities such as preventing environmental pollution, waste management, recycling, renewable energy production, and ecosystem protection. These cooperatives, focusing on environmental protection, generally conform to the classification made. Furthermore, the importance of environmental protection cooperatives in the context of the principle of social responsibility, one of the principles of cooperativism, their focus on social benefit, and their role in the sustainable development paradigm are evaluated. The third chapter of this thesis examines the role of environmental protection cooperatives in Turkey within the context of sustainable development and their relationship to social responsibility, using a mixed research method and employing both quantitative and qualitative research data. This chapter evaluates sustainable development and social responsibility both conceptually and in terms of activities and practices. It also highlights the obstacles and problems faced by environmental protection cooperatives in Turkey. In conclusion, this thesis demonstrates that environmental protection cooperatives are an important component of both the sustainable development paradigm and the solidarity spirit of cooperativism; it emphasizes that they should be considered a new and noteworthy social actor in the fight against environmental problems due to the contributions they make to both their members and society through their activities in environmental, social, and economic dimensions.
