Özet
Bu tezin amacı, millet kavramının tarihsel süreçte anlam değişimini incelemek, Fârâbî felsefesi bağlamında mille kavramını değerlendirmek ve mille-millet kavramları ilişkisini kurmaktır. İslam öncesinden günümüze din ve yaşamda gidilen yol gibi anlamlar taşıyan millet kavramı Fârâbî düşüncesinde felsefi olarak yorumlanmıştır. Fârâbî bu kavramı erdemli ilk başkanın belirli sınırlar çerçevesinde oluşturduğu görüş ve filler olarak tanımlamaktadır. Modern dönemde bu kavram ortak kültür, soy, dil, din, tarih birliği bulunan toplulukları ifade etmek için kullanılmaktadır. Mille ve millet kavramları aslında aynı kökten gelen zaman içinde farklı anlamlar kazanmış tek bir kavramdır. Millet kavramı zaman içinde anlam daralmasına uğrayarak din anlamını kaybetmiş ve ortak değerlere sahip topluluk anlamı kazanmıştır. Tez üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde İslam düşüncesi ve öncesinde millet kavramının anlamları ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde Fârâbî felsefesinde mille kavramı, din-mille ilişkisine yer verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde ise Fârâbî'nin ahlak düşüncesi, mille ilişkisi ve milletin güncel yansımalarına yer verilmiştir.

The aim of this thesis is to examine the change in the meaning of the concept of nation in the historical process, to evaluate the concept of milla in the context of al- Fârâbî's philosophy, and to establish the relationship between the concepts of milla and nation. The term of nation, which has meanings such as religion and the path followed in life from pre-Islamic times to the present day, has been interpreted philosophically in the thought of Fârâbî. Fârâbî defines this term as the view and actions formed by the first virtuous president within certain limits. In modern times, this concept is used to refer to communities with a common culture, lineage, language, religion, and history. Actually, the terms of milla and nation are a single term that comes from the same root and has acquired different meanings over time. The term of nation has undergone a narrowing of meaning over time, losing the meaning of religion, and gaining the meaning of a community with common values. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter discusses the meanings of the term of nation in Islamic thought and before. The second chapter discusses the term of milla in al- Fârâbî's philosophy and the relationship between religion and milla. The third part discusses al- Fârâbî's moral thought, the relationship between the milla and the nation, and contemporary reflections on the nation.
