Özet
Bu çalışma, plastik sektörü ve dış ticaret üzerine mevcut literatürü inceleyerek, sektörün ekonomik ve sosyal etkilerini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. 1990–2023 dönemine ait yıllık verilerle yürütülen araştırmada, plastik ihracatının makroekonomik değişkenlerle ilişkisi analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada bağımlı değişken olarak plastik ihracatı; bağımsız değişkenler olarak ise GSYİH büyüme oranı, kişi başına düşen gelir, döviz kuru, işsizlik oranı, enflasyon, sanayi üretim endeksi ve brent petrol fiyatları kullanılmıştır. Makroekonomik değişkenlerin plastik ihracatı üzerindeki etkileri, zaman serisi analizleriyle incelenmiş; elde edilen sonuçlara dayalı olarak sektörün sürdürülebilir gelişimini destekleyecek politika önerileri geliştirilmiştir. Zaman serisi analizlerinde Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) testiyle serilerin durağanlığı sınanmış, Johansen eşbütünleşme testiyle uzun dönemli ilişkiler ve Granger nedensellik testiyle değişkenler arası nedensellik yönü belirlenmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular döviz kuru, kişi başına düşen gelir ve petrol fiyatlarının plastik ihracatı üzerinde anlamlı etkileri olduğunu göstermiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda, plastik sektörünün ekonomik büyüme ve dış ticaret dengesi açısından stratejik bir konumda bulunduğunu göstermektedir. Ayrıca sektörün, bölgesel kalkınmaya ve sanayi altyapısının güçlendirilmesine katkı sunmaktadır. Politika önerileri arasında yerli üretim kapasitesinin artırılması, ihracat teşviklerinin güçlendirilmesi, çevreci üretim teknolojilerine geçiş ve geri dönüşüm altyapısının geliştirilmesi yer almaktadır. Bu öneriler, sektörün sürdürülebilir kalkınmaya katkısını artırmayı hedeflemektedir.

This study aims to examine the existing literature on the plastics sector and foreign trade and to reveal the economic and social impacts of the sector. In the study conducted with annual data for the period 1990-2023, the relationship between plastics exports and macroeconomic variables was analyzed. In the study, plastics exports were used as the dependent variable and GDP growth rate, per capita income, exchange rate, unemployment rate, inflation, industrial production index and Brent oil prices were used as independent variables. The effects of macroeconomic variables on plastics exports are analyzed through time series analyses and policy recommendations are developed to support the sustainable development of the sector based on the results obtained. In time series analyses, the stationarity of the series was tested with the Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) test, long-run relationships were determined with the Johansen cointegration test and the direction of causality between variables was determined with the Granger causality test. The findings show that exchange rate, per capita income and oil prices have significant effects on plastics exports. The results of the study show that the plastics sector has a strategic position in terms of economic growth and foreign trade balance. It also contributes to regional development and the strengthening of industrial infrastructure. Policy recommendations include increasing domestic production capacity, strengthening export incentives, transition to environmentally friendly production technologies and improving recycling infrastructure. These recommendations aim to increase the sector's contribution to sustainable development.
