Dr. Soner YILDIRIM Ortak Tez Yöneticisi: Doç. Dr. M. Yaşar ÖZDEN Ağustos 1999, 110 sayfa Bu tezde Orta Doğu Teknik Üniveristesi'nde yürütülen (biri on-line diğeri geleneksel yöntemlerle yürütülen) iki farklı bilgisayar dersinin etkileri incelenmiştir. Bu dersler öğrencilerin genel olarak bilgisayarlara olan tutumlarını etkilemesi açısından incelenmiş ve öğrencilerin cinsiyet, daha önce bilgisayar dersi alıp almadıkları, dersi almadan önceki bilgisayara karşı tutumları ve evde bir bilgisayarları olup olmadığı gibi faktörler de göz önünde tutulmuştur. Bu çalışma ayrıca ODTÜ Eğitim Fakültesi öğrencilerinin bilgisayarlara olan tutumunu başka ne gibi faktörlerin etkilediğini de araştırmıştır. Veriler 147'si kız, 62'si erkek, toplam 209 öğretmen adayından toplanmıştır. Bunlardan 69'u on-line (ISlOO-Bilişim Teknolojileri ve uygulamalarına Giriş), 140'ı ise geleneksel yöntemlerle verilen (SCE300-Eğitimde Bilgisayar Uygulamaları) bilgisayar okur-yazarlığı derslerine katılmıştır. Çok yönlü regrasyon sonuçlan, cinsiyet, alman bilgisayar dersinin çeşidi (geleneksel ya da on-line), daha önce bilgisayarla ilgili derslerin alınıp alınmaması, dersi almadan önceki bilgisayara karşı tutumları ve evde bilgisayar olup olmamasıgibi faktörlerin öğrencilerin ders sonrası tutumları üzerinde birleşik etkisi olduğunu göstermiştir. Niteliksel çalışmanın sonuçları ise istatistiksel sonuçlan desteklemiş ve öğrencilerin devam ettikleri bilgisayar dersi ile ilgili düşünce ve görüşlerini analiz etmiştir.

ABSTRACT A COMPARISON OF STUDENT-TEACHERS' ATTITUDES TOWARD COMPUTERS IN ON-LINE AND TRADITIONAL COMPUTER LITERACY COURSES: A CASE STUDY Gürbüz, Tarkan M. Yaşar ÖZDEN August 1999, 110 pages This study examined the effect of two computer literacy courses at METU (one was offered as on-line and the other was by traditional methods). Also, these two courses were compared in terms of their effectiveness on computer attitude of the student-teachers with different demographics such as gender, whether any computer-related courses taken before, previous computer attitude, and possession of home computer. This study also explored the other factors that contributed to changes in attitudes of the student teachers. The study used data from 209 (147 female, 62 male) student-teachers of which 69 of them attended to the on-line computer literacy course IS 100“Introduction to Information Technology and Applications”, and 140 of them attended to the traditional computer literacy course SCE300.“Computer Applications in Education”, which were offered at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey. Results of Multiple Regression Analysis indicated that there is a combined effect of gender, computer literacy course type (traditional vs on-line), whether any computer related course taken before, previous computer attitude and possession of home computer on student-teachers' post-attitude toward computers. The follow-up iiistudy results were also supportive to the results of statistical analysis, and they investigated student teachers' perceptions about the computer literacy course they attended.
