Özet
ÖZET Bu tez 'Dracula' adlı romana feminist biçem analizi uygulamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışma sözcük, tümleç ve söylem üzerine oturtulmuştur. Tez de erkek egemen ideolojinin transitivite kavramıyla dilbilimsel olarak nasıl yansıtıldığı üzerinde özellikle durulmuştur. Bu tezin amacı romanın dilinde varolan cinsiyet ayrımcılığı ve erkek egemen ideolojiyi ortaya çıkarmaktır. Birinci bölüm de tezin bağlamı biçem çalışmasıyla ilgili kısa bilgi, eleştirel dilbilimi ve feminist biçem alanlarında belli başlı bilgiler verilerek oluşturulmuştur. Daha sonra tezde uygulanan Michael Toolan'ın Transitivite Modeli ve Sara Mills'in Feminist biçem Modeli irdelenmiştir. İkinci bölüm de 'Dracula' romanından alınmış bir bölüm üzerinde belli başlı dilbilimsel kavramları anlatıcının ideolojisini nasıl yansıttığını göstermektedir. Bu kısım dişi bir anlatıcının ağzından aktarılan bir metine odaklanır ve atıfları, kategorik isimleri, transitiviteyi ve karakterlerin nasıl oluşturulduklarını inceler. Üçüncü bölüm, ikinci bölümde yapılmış olan çalışmaları aynı şekilde kapsamakla birlikte, bu kez ele alınan metin bir erkek anlatıcı tarafından aktarılmaktadır. Dördüncü bölüm tezin ikinci ve üçüncü bölümlerinde ele alınan konuların daha detaylı bir biçimde incelenmesinin yanısıra romanın başka bir bölümünde incelenmesinden oluşmaktadır.Ill Beşinci ve sonuç bölümü bu çalışmanın ortaya çıkartıklarının bir özetini sunmayı hedefter ve bu tezle incelenen hipotezleri anlatıcıların ideolojilerinin romanın yazarının ideolojisini bire bir yansıtıp yansıtmadığını irdelemektedir.

IV ABSTRACT The purpose of this thesis is to perform a feminist stylistic analysis on the novel Dracula. The study is carried out on the level of the word, the phrase and discourse. Particular emphasis will be placed on the concept of transitivity as a linguistic tool for conveying a patriarchal ideology. It is the aim of this thesis to show that a sexist, male-dominated ideology can be detected in the language of the novel. In Chapter One we have a brief introduction to the general field of stylistic study and then some specific information about the fields of Critical Linguistics and Feminist stylistics in order to contextualise the study. We then go on to discuss the linguistic models that will be employed; Michael Toolan's Transitivity Model and Sara Mills' Feminist Stylistic model. Chapter Two analyses a selected extract from Dracula. focussing on how specific linguistic concepts reflect the narrator's ideology. This chapter concentrates on a text narrated by a female narrator and concentrates on examining terms of reference, generic nouns, transitivity and character construction. Chapter Three includes the same kind of analysis as Chapter Two except that the text selected is one that is narrated by a male character. Chapter Four also concentrates on the analysis of an extract from the novel and goes on to further develop and support the ideas presented in Chapters Two and Three.Chapter Five, the conclusion, attempts to summarise the findings of the study. It discusses the hypotheses that the study investigated and also discusses how the ideology of the narrators is related to the author of the novel, Bram stoker.
