Özet
Wittgenstein, Tractatus sonrası çalışmalarıyla“doğrulanabilirlik”ilkesine dayanan mantıkçı pozitivist anlam kuramını eleştirerek analitik felsefede bir kırılma noktası meydana getirmiştir. O,“dil oyunları”kavramına başvurarak gündelik dile ve onun çok çeşitli kullanımlarına yaptığı vurguyla gündelik dili felsefenin analiz konusu olarak belirlemiştir. Dil oyunları, kurallara dayanan etkinlikler olup bu kurallar bir dilsel topluluğun uzlaşımlarıyla belirlenir. Wittgenstein, dil oyunlarının yaşam biçimleriyle kopmaz bağını göstererek dilin sosyal ve edimsel doğasını ortaya koymuştur. Wittgenstein gibi bir gündelik dil filozofu olan Austin, Wittgenstein'ın altını çizmiş olduğu üzere dilin betimlemek ve bildirimde bulunmak dışında çok çeşitli kullanımlarının olduğu savından hareketle“söz edimleri kuramı”nı geliştirmiştir. Söz edimleri kuramı,“Bir şey söylemek bir şey yapmaktır”savını temele alan bir kuram olup dilin edimsel doğasını ortaya koyar. Austin, dilin edimsel karakterinin, uylaşımlar sayesinde mümkün olduğunu yani dil ile bir şey yapmamıza olanak sağlayan şeyin, insanların üzerinde uzlaştıkları pratikler olduğunu savunarak Wittgensteincı bir çizgide yer alır. Bu çalışmada, Austin'in söz edimleri kuramını geliştirirken Wittgenstein'ın Tractatus sonrası düşüncelerinden, özellikle de Felsefi Soruşturmalar adlı yapıtından etkilendiği gösterilmeye çalışılacaktır.

Wittgenstein makes a breakthrough in analytic philosophy by criticizing the logical positivism theory of meaning based on the principle of“verifiability”with his post-Tractatus studies. He identifies ordinary language as the subject of philosophical analysis, with an emphasis on ordinary language and its various uses, referring to the concept of“language games.”Language games are rule-based activities, and these rules are determined by the consensus of a linguistic community. Wittgenstein demonstrates the social and performative nature of language by showing the inextricable link between language games and forms of life. Austin, a philosopher of ordinary language like Wittgenstein, has developed the“speech act theory”based on the assertion that language has a wide variety of uses other than describing and reporting, as Wittgenstein emphasized. Speech act theory is a theory based on the assertion that“to say something is to do something,”and it demonstrates the performative nature of language. Austin takes a Wittgensteinian approach, saying that the performative nature of language is made possible by conventions, that is, the practices that people agree on that allow us to do something with language. This study will demonstrate that Austin was influenced by Wittgenstein's post-Tractatus thoughts, especially his Philosophical Investigations, in developing his speech act theory.
