Özet
ÖZET Zihinsel engellilerde düzenli yapılan sporun davranış gelişimine etkisini araştıran çalışmamızda, 20 öğretilebilir zihinsel engelli öğrenci denek olarak kullanıldı. Bunlardan 10'u kontrol, 10'u uygulama grubunu oluşturdular. Her iki gruba da ön test olarak“Uyumsal Davranış Skalası”kullanılarak değerlendirme yapıldı. Uygulama grubuna haftada 3 gün birer saat müzik eşliğinde sportif aktiviteler uygulanarak 16 hafta boyunca çalışmalara devam edildi. Kontrol grubuna hiçbir sportif aktivite yaptırılmadı. 16 haftadan sonra iki gruba da son test olarak aynı skala kullanılarak değerlendirme yapıldı, ön ve son testlerin karşılaştırılması yapılarak aradaki farkın anlamlı olup olmadığı araştırıldı. Uygulama grubunun ön test ve son test fark değerlerinin karşılaştırılmasında Mann- Whitney testi kullanıldı. Skalamn 1. Ve 2. bölümünde elde edilen sonuçların değerlendirilmesinde istatistiksel olarak anlamlılık gözlenirken (P<0.01), kontrol grubunun ön test ve son test fark değerlerinin karşılaştırılmasında hem 1. Bölümde hem de 2. Bölümde aritmetik ortalamalarında fark gözlenirken istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmadı (P>0.05). Bu çalışmanın sonucunda engellilerin toplum içindeki davranışlarının ve uyum sorunlarının ortadan kaldırılabilmesi veya en az seviyeye indirilmesi konusunda özel eğitimin bir parçası olarak sportif aktivitelerin kullanılması gerekliliği ortaya çıkmıştır.

SUMMARY THE EFFECT OF REGULAR SPORTS EXERCISES ON BEHAVIOURAL DEVELOPMENT OF MENTALLY RETARDED CHILDREN Twenty trainable mentally retarded students had been the subject of our study seeking the effect of regular sports exercises on behavioural development of mentally retarded persons. Ten among those subjects formed the control group and the other ten formed the application group. By using“Adaptable Behaviour Scale”as a pre-test an evaluation had been made on both of the groups. Studies had continued for 16 weeks by applying sporting activities with the accompainment of music to the application group 3 days a week for one hour. No sporting activities had been made on the control group. By using the same scale as a final test an evaluation had been made on both of the groups after 16 weeks. Having a comparison between the pre and the final tests, it had been sought whether the difference between them is meaningful or not. To compare the tests difference values of the pre and the final tests of application group, Mann-Whitney test had been used. With results obtained from the first and second part of the scale, a statistical meariingfulness had been observed (PO.001). In the comparision of the pre and the final tests difference values of the control group a difference had been observed in the arithmetic averages of both the first part and the second part, but no meaningful statistical difference had been found (P>0.05). It had come out that the necessity of sporting activities for mentally retarded persons ought to be osed as a part of the specialeducation in order to eliminate or decrease their behaviour in public and the problem of adaptation.
