Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul öğrencilerinin fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyonları ve başarı güdülerinin farklı demografik değişkenler açısından incelenmesidir. Bu kapsamda çalışma, 2021-2022 Eğitim-Öğretim yılı bahar döneminde, İstanbul ili Sultangazi ve Kadıköy ilçelerinde bulunan devlet ve özel ortaokullarda öğrenim gören 5., 6., 7. ve 8. sınıflarında okuyan 400 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Açıklayıcı karma yöntem kullanılarak gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak Dede ve Yaman (2008) tarafından geliştirilen“Fen Öğrenmeye Yönelik Motivasyon Ölçeği”ile Umay'ın (2002) geliştirdiği“Başarı Güdüsü Ölçeği”kullanılmış, uygulama sonrasında fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyonları ile başarı güdülerini belirlemeye yönelik araştırmacının hazırlamış olduğu beş adet açık uçlu sorulardan oluşan görüşme formu, her okul türünden 4'ü kız 4' ü erkek olmak üzere toplam 16 katılımcı öğrenciye gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada ölçeklerden elde edilen nicel veriler SPSS paket programı ile nitel veriler ise MAXQDA programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyonlarının bazı faktörleri ile okul türü, cinsiyet, sınıf düzeyi, bilgisayar olup/olmaması, internet olup/olmaması, sosyal ağ kullanım süresi, fen dersi akademik başarı puanı değişkenlerine göre anlamlı fark gösterdiği belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin başarı güdülerinin sınıf düzeyleri, günlük sosyal ağ kullanım süresi ve fen dersi akademik başarı puanına göre anlamlı bir farklılık gösterdiği; okulun türü, cinsiyet, evde bilgisayar olup/olmaması ve evde internet olup/olmamasına göre anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği belirlenmiştir. Öğrencilerin fen öğrenmeye yönelik başarı güdüleri ile motivasyon ölçeğinin toplamı ve ölçeğin faktörleri arasında pozitif bir ilişki olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Bununla birlikte öğrencilerin fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyonları ve başarı güdülerine ilişkin görüşlerde öğrencilerin en fazla öğrenci ile ilgili faktörlere yönelik görüşler belirttiği görülmüştür.

The aim of this research is to examine the motivations and success motives of secondary school students for Science learning in terms of different demographic variables. In this context, the study was carried out in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year with 400 students studying in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades studying in public and private secondary schools in Sultangazi and Kadıköy districts of Istanbul province. In this study, which was carried out using the explanatory mixed method, the 'Motivation Scale for Science Learning' developed by Dede and Yaman (2008) and the 'Success Motivation Scale' developed by Umay (2002) were used as a data collection tool and after the application, the interview form consisting of five open-ended questions prepared by the researcher to determine their motivations and success motives for Science was carried out to a total of 16 participating students, 4 girls and 4 of each school type. In the research, quantitative data obtained from the scales were analysed with the SPSS package program and qualitative data were analysed with the MAXQDA program. As a result of the research, it was determined that the some factors of motivations of the students to learn Science differed significantly according to the variables such as the type of school, gender, class level, whether there is/isn't computer, whether there is/isn't internet, social network usage time and Science course academic achievement score. In addition, it was determined that the success motives of the students differed significantly according to their class levels, daily social network usage time and science course academic success score but they did not differ significantly depending on the type of school, gender, whether there was/no computer at home and whether there was/whether there was internet at home. It has been determined that there is a positive relationship between the sum of the motivation scale of the students and the factors of the scale and their achievement motivation for success. In addition to this, it was seen that the students mostly expressed their opinions about the factors related to the students in the opinions on the motivations and success motives of the students for learning Science.
