Özet (Çeviri)
Personality inference from neutral and static faces is possible. However, we still do not know why exactly it is possible. Some personality traits, such as extraversion, are easily detectable from faces. Neuroticism, on the other hand, has not been proven to be inferred from a face. Srivastava et al. (2010) suggested that“perceiver effects”might play a role. This paper tries to understand the reasons behind personality inference by using an implicit association test with neutral composite faces to measure the personality inference performance, along with The Big Five personality inventory to understand the role of the personality of the perceiver on the process. Results showed no bias on the IAT, meaning that neuroticism was not implicitly detectable. There were also no correlations between the personality traits of the participants and their inference performance. This suggests that the“perceiver effects”do not operate in the way that has been hypothesized by Srivastava et al. and that the personality inference is not directly related to the personality traits of the observers.
