Özet
TÜRKÇE ÖZET Bu tezin amacı standart anadil eğitimi kurs kitaplarının bireydeki anadil gelişimine ne denli katkıda bulunduğunu sergilemektir. Bu bağlamda, dört kitap, ikisi Türk Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı'nca onaylanmış Türkçe I - II ; ikisi de, Amerikan İlköğretim programına uygun World of Language I - II kurs kitapları, tezin evreni olarak seçilmiş durumdadır. Tezin ana teması, kurs kitaplarında seçilmiş olan materyallerin ulusal programlarının taleplerine göre belirlenip, hazırlandığı varsayılmıştır. Bu doğrultuda, iki ülkenin ulusal programlan incelendikten sonra, seçilen kurs kitaplarının bağlı oldukları ülkelerin anadil eğitimi programlarına ne ölçüde uyup uymadıkları incelenmiştir. Tezin kuramsal çerçevesi, Benedictus Baruch Spinoza'mn insan zihninin gelişimini inceleyen metafizik kuramına dayandırılmıştır. Bu felsefeye göre, dil gelişimi beş aşamalı olmalıdır ve ilk ikisi de bu beş aşamanın temelidir. Bu iki aşama“anadil ve bireysel evren”ve“sosyal evren”olup, anadil kurs kitaplarının dayandırılması gerektiği evrenlerdir. Sonuç olarak, adı geçen kitaplar“fiziksel yapılan”,“ içerik yapılan”,“hedefleri”ve“ anadile olan katkılan”açısından incelenmişlerdir. Bu tez, anadil ders kitaplarının somut evrene dayandırılması gerektiği görüşünü savunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda, tez, bu tür kurs kitaplarında kullanılması gereken bir örnek ünite de vermektedir. İİİ

ingilizce özet This thesis aims to expose and reveal the ways in which standard text books of mother tongue instruction contribute to the development of formal language acquisition. Within this realm, four course books, two which are claimed to be parallel to the Turkish curriculum, approved by the Ministry of Education, Türkçe I-II: and two from the American elementary education, World of Language I-II have been selected as in the scope of the dissertation. The main thesis is based on the presumption that the realm of the basic course material in mother tongue should be defined precisely in accordance with the demands of the national curriculum. For this matter, curriculla both in Turkey and in the U.S.A. have been analysed so as to locate the language text books complying with the objectives of language development. The theoretical framework of the scope of basic language textbooks has been based on Benedictus Baruch Spinoza's theory of the framework of metaphysics in relation with the progress of human mind. Out of his philosophy, it has been proposed that there should be five levels in language acquisition and development, the first two to be considered as the fundamental steps of language development. These two, being“ mother tongue and individual universe”and“social universe”are suggested as the realms of language development on which such textbooks are based. ivTo conclude, the above-mentioned textbooks have been analyzed in view of their“physical features”,“contextual formation”,“objectives”and their“contributions to mother tongue development”. The thesis proposes that essential language textbooks be based on a concrete universe, by also introducing a modal which offers a framework for a typical unit in such textbooks.
