Özet
TÜRKÇE ABSTRAKT Bu tez, bir felsefe disiplini olarak Estetik' in modern (ve postmodern) kültür içerisindeki konumuyla ilgilidir.“Giriş”bölümüyle birlikte yedi bölümden oluşan tezde, Descartes ile başladığı kabul edilen modern felsefi düşüncenin karakteristikleri ve bu karakteristiklerin başta sanat olmak üzere, bilim, ahlâk, politika vb. modern kültürün çeşitli alanlarına yansımaları irdelenmiştir. Eleştirel bir mesafe içerisinde, felsefî Aydınlanma paradigması sorgulanmış ve bu paradigmanın estetik sorunlar özelinde bir panoraması çizilmeye çalışılmıştır. Aydınlanma felsefesinin karakteristik figürleri olan Descartes, Leibniz, Rousseau, Hume, Kant gibi öncü filozofların estetik sorunlarla ilişkilendirilebilecek yönlerine dikkat çekilmiş veya doğrudan estetik sorunları ele alış tarzlarına yer verilmiştir. Modern felsefe içerisinde Estetik' in kurucusu ve isim babası sayılan Baumgarten'ın düşünceleri, Terry Eagleton ve Luc Ferry'e ait iki eleştirel okuma aracılığıyla sorgulanmaya çalışılmıştır. Onyedinci yüzyıl Fransa'sında başlayan ünlü“aneiens et modernes”kavgası etrafında somutlaşan“sanat”ve“güzellik”kavramları hakkındaki felsefi tartışmalar aktarılmış ve bu tartışmalara angaje olan Boileau, Batteaux, Bouhours, Dubos gibi düşünürlerin savları irdelenmiştir. Almanya'da Baumgarten'ın ve Fransa'da klasisistler ile sentimentalistler arasındaki tartışmanın temsil ettiği estetik yönelimli felsefî düşünce manzarası, İngiltere'de“moral duyu”filozofları adıyla anılan Shaftesbury, Hutcheson ve Hume'un estetik yönelimli bakışlarının ele alınıp incelenmesi aracılığıyla Avrupa çapında tamamlanmaya çalışılmıştır. Aydınlanmacı özne felsefesinin doruk noktasında bulunan Kant' m felsefî sistemi ve bu sistem içerisinde estetiğin yeri, bilgi, ahlâk ve yargı sorunları çerçevesinde ayrıntılı olarak işlenmiştir. Estetiğin teorik çerçevesinin modern sanat uygulayıcıları olarak avant-garde 'ları etkileme ve yönlendirme tarzlarına ve estetik düşüncenin sürekliliği içerisinde avant-gardismi postmodernist sanat anlayışına bağlayan belli başlı çizgilere eleştirel bir bakış, günümüzde sanatın krizini anlamaya çalışan bu tezin son bölümünü oluşturmaktadır. 322 i

İNGİLİZCE ABSTRAKT This doctoral dissertation is concerning with the position of Aesthetics in the modern (and the postmodern) culture. In the thesis which consists of seven chapters with“Introduction”, it is considered the characteristics of the modern philosophical thought that begins with Descartes, and the reflections of these characteristics into various spheres of the modern culture as art, science, morality, politics etc. In a critical distance, the thesis interrogates the paradigm of philosophical Enlightenment and attempts to sketch a panorama of this paradigm especially relating to the problems of the aesthetic. Occasionally, it calls attention to the aspects of vanguard philosophers like Descartes, Leibniz, Rousseau, Hume, Kant that can be connected with the problems of the aesthetic, or directly it gives place to their modes of taking up the matters of aesthetics. By the aid of two critical readings of Eagleton and Ferry, it tries to look at and examine the thoughts of Baumgarten who is considered as the founder and name- father of Aesthetics. It also looks at 'pre- history of aesthetics', that is 'Querelle des Anciens et des Modernes' represented by Boileau and Bouhours in the France at seventeenth century. Additionally, the landscape of aesthetical-oriented philosophical thought at the scale of Europe is completed with British philosophers of 'moral sense' like Shaftesbury, Hutcheson and Hume. It is critically worked up at full length the philosophical system of Kant who is the summit of subjectivist philosophy of Enlightenment, and the place of aesthetics in Kant's system in the frame of the problems of knowledge, morality and judgement. In the final chapter, it is revised the modes that the modern philosophical aesthetic theory has effected and directed the avant-gardes and the postmodernists as the practitioners of modern contemporary art, and so it is aimed to understand the crisis of art and aesthetics today. 323
