Özet
Felsefe tarihinin şüphesiz ki en önemli filozoflarından biri David Hume'dur. Bunda hem Hume'un ortaya koymaya çalıştığı tutarlı empirizmi hem de nedensellik eleştirisi etkili olmuştur. Hume, nedensellik eleştirisi ile pozitif bilimlerin temelini de sorgulamaktadır. Diğer yandan Hume, insan zihninin önemli bir parçası olan nedenselliği ele alarak insan doğasını anlama noktasında kılavuz olmaktadır. Özellikle canlılar için son derece önemli olan korku duygusunu ve koşullama kavramını ele alırken Hume'un nedensellik eleştirisi yol gösterici olmaktadır. Koşullama kavramı, korkunun öğrenilen bir duygu olduğunu vurgularken nedensellik kavramı ise korkunun doğası hakkında ipuçları vermektedir. Çalışmanın temel odak noktası ise dünya genelinde kadınlarda yaygın olarak görülen doğum korkusu (tokofobi) dur. Doğum korkusu, kadını etkileyen bir problem olmakla birlikte aileyi ve toplumu da etkileyen son derece önemli bir sorundur. Doğum korkusunun farklı nedenleri bulunmaktadır fakat doğum korkusu temelde öğrenilen bir korku olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Bu nedenle doğum korkusunun nedenleri, sonuçları ve mücadele yolları ele alınırken Hume'un nedensellik eleştirisi önemli bir kaynaktır.

Undoubtedly one of the most important philosophers in the history of philosophy is David Hume. In this both the consistent empiricism that Hume tried to put forward and the criticism of causality were effective. Hume also questions the foundation of positive sciences with his critique of causality. On the other hand Hume is guiding the point of understanding human nature by addressing causality, which is an important part of the human mind. Hume's critique of causality is guiding, especially when dealing with the sense of fear and conditioning, which are extremely important for living things. While the concept of conditioning emphasizes that fear is learned emotion, the concept of causality gives clues about the nature of fear. The main focus of the study is fear of childbirth (tocophobia), which is common in women worldwide. Although the fear of childbirth is a problem affecting women, it is also an extremely important problem affecting the family and society. There are different reasons for the fear of childbirth but the fear of childbirth is basically a learned fear. Therefore, Hume's critique of causality is an important source when discussing the causes, consequences, and ways of dealing with the fear of childbirth.
