Sınıflandırma kriterleri- aynı ortacıdaki öğrencilerden toplanan ve öğrencilerin bazı karakteristik özelliklerini yansıtan verilerden elde edilmiştir. Geliştirilen- böyle -bir- sistem yardımıyla öğrenci danışmanları öğrencinin olası başarısı hakkında önceden bilgi edinip başarısını engelleyebilecek problemlerin çözü iroesine yardımcı olabilecektir. öğrencinin bu tür prohiesr- ve/veya eksiklikleri saptandıktan sonra, bunlar bir takım özel programlar -uygulanarak telafi edilebilirler. Bu yolla üniversitelerdeki başarı oranının arttırılması? eğitim hizmetinin maliyetini düşürecek? ve kaynak israfını en aza indirecektir.

Î93 pages This thesis is devoted to the development of are expert system that is capable of classifying a student as successful or unsuccessful upon the student7 s entrance to the university» This is done by using some success criteria which sure deduced from the set of real world d&t&_ reflecting the characteristics of students. With the help of such a system? student advisors can get soss information about the potential success of a student before hand and help the student overcome the problems that &.r<a likely to lead to failure of the student. Once such problems and/or shortcomings of the student are identified*- the student's success rate can be increased by some-- -s-pecia-I- programs or tutoring.
