Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı Covid-19 pandemisi uzaktan eğitim sürecinde ortaokul 7. sınıf öğrencilerinin teknoloji kullanımına yönelik tecrübelerinin incelenmesidir. Covid-19 pandemisi ile birlikte değişen eğitim öğretim ortamının dijitalleşerek öğrencilerin teknoloji kullanımlarını arttırdığı görülmektedir. Bu amaçla katılımcılardan elde edilen veriler çözümlenerek Covid-19 pandemi sürecinde öğrencilerin teknoloji kullanım amaçları, teknoloji kullanım deneyimleri ve buna bağlı olarak teknolojiye yönelik tecrübeleri araştırılmıştır. Araştırma nitel araştırma desenlerinden durum çalışması deseni ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada amaçlı örnekleme yöntemlerinden ölçüt örnekleme tercih edilmiştir. Araştırma örneklemini, 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılı içerisinde Marmara Bölgesi'nde bir devlet ortaokulunda yabancı dil sınıfına giden 11 ortaokul 7. sınıf öğrencisi, 5 branş öğretmeni ve 9 veli olmak üzere toplam 25 katılımcı oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak uzman görüşü alınan yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ile odak grup görüşmesi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler içerik analiz yöntemiyle çözümlenmiştir. Covid-19 salgını sebebiyle görüşmeler sosyal mesafe çerçevesinde sağlık önlemleri kapsamında video konferans ve telekonferans şeklinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Katılımcılarla yapılan derinlemesine görüşmeler sonucunda elde edilen veriler içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılarak çözümlenmiş ve analiz sonucunda“Teknoloji Kullanımı”,“Psikolojik Faktörler”,“Akademik Etki”başlığı altında üç tema elde edilmiştir. Araştırmanın bulgularına göre; Covid-19 Pandemi sürecinde öğrencilerin teknoloji kullanım amaçlarının; sosyalleşme aracı, eğlence amaçlı, akademik gelişim, bireysel gelişim, zorunluluk ve kabul görmek için olduğu görülmektedir. Teknoloji ile geçirilen vaktin günlük olarak en az 5 saat en fazla 13 saat olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Aşırı teknoloji kullanımının bağımlılık, sosyal izolasyon ve akademik ilgisizliğe sebep olduğu düşünülmektedir. Diğer taraftan teknoloji kullanımının Covid-19 pandemi sürecinde motivasyon sağladığı, kişisel beceri ve yetenekleri geliştirdiği de düşünülmektedir.

The study intends to examining the views on the use of technology of middle school 7th grade students in times of the Covid-19 Pandemic. The Covid-19 epidemic has altered the educational learning/teaching environment. Due to this, students' usage of technology has risen. In this purpose, the data obtained from the participants were interpreted and students' technology usage purposes, technology usage experiences and as a result their attitudes on technology were researched during the Covid-19 Pandemic. In the study, qualitative case study design was adopted. Criterion sampling, one of the purposeful sampling techniques, was used for sampling method. A total of 25 participants consists of 11 middle school 7th grade students attending a foreign language class in a public middle school in the Marmara Region in the 2020-2021 academic year, 5 subject area teachers and 9 parents. To obtain data in the study, semi- structured interview protocol with expert opinion and a focus group interview was managed as a data collection tool. Data obtained were analyzed by content analysis method. Interviews were performed via video-conference and teleconference in the context of health measures within the framework of social distance caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Three themes were created under the title of“Technology Use”,“Psychological Factors”,“Academic Impact”. The findings of the study indicated that in times of the Covid-19 Pandemic, students' technology usage purposes were socialization, entertainment, academic development, individual development, obligation and acceptance. The time spent with technology was at least 5 hours and at most 13 hours a day. Excessive use of technology was thought to cause addiction, social isolation and academic indifference. On the other hand, findings also revealed that the use of technology provided motivation and developed personal skills and abilities of the 7th grade students in times of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
