ÖZET Şa'banzâde Mehmed Muhteşem ve Münâzara-i Tîğ it Kalem'i, Haz. Feradun Hakan ÖZKAN, Danışman: YnLDoç.Dr. Mehmet SARI, Afyon Kocatepe Ü. Sosyal Bilimler Enst. (Yayımlanmamış Yüksek lisans Tezi), Afyon 1997, XXX+1 1 1 s. Şa'banzâde Mehmed Muhteşemin doğum tarihi belli olmayıp 1708'de öldü. Kazasker olan amcası Şa'ban Efendi'nin yanında eğitimini tamamladı. Şeyhülislâm Yahya Efendi'ye mülâzim oldu. Muhtelif medreselerde müderrislik ve değişik yerlerde kadılık görevlerinde bulundu. Kendisinin dört tane eseri vardır. Bu çalışmada onun manzum ve mensur karışık olarak yazdığı Münâzara-i Tığ u Kalem isimli eserinin tespit edilebilen on üç nüshasının içinden müellif hattı olan iki nüshası karşılaştırılarak tenkitli metni hazırlandı. Eser tevhid ile na'ttan sonra devrin padişahının medhiyesi, sebeb-i telif ve eserin önemini belirten bir girişle başlamaktadır. Bu girişten sonra otuz başlık altında kalem ve kılıcın birbirlerine karşı üstünlüklerini savundukları tartışmaların yer aldığı asıl metin kısmı gelir. Eserde kalem ilmi, kılıç orduyu sembolize etmektedir. Sonuçta akıl araya girerek kalemin kılıçtan daha üstün olduğu hükmünü verir. Eserde pek çok Arapça Farsça kelime ve tamlamalar bulunmaktadır. Bu yüzden eserin dili oldukça ağır olup süslü nesrin önemli bir örneğini teşkil etmektedir. Metinde geçen âyet, hadis ve Arapça ibarelerin tercümeleri çalışmanın sonuna ilâve edildi. Ayrıca bir de ayrıntılı dizin hazırlandı.

ABSTRACT Şa'banzâde Mehned Muhteşem ve Tîğ u Kalem'i, Prepared: by Ferudım Hakan ÖZKAN, Advisor YrdDoçJDr. Mehmet SARI, Afyon Kocatepe Universty Institute of Social Sciences (Master Thesis), Afyon 1997.XXX+111 s. Şa'banzâde Mehmed Muhteşem whose birth date is not known was died in 1708. He has finished his education under his uncel's control, Şa'ban Efendi, who was a chief military judge. He has become Sheikhulislam Yahya Efendi's assistant. He has worked as a professor at various medresses and as a cadi at different places. He has four written works. In this study, one of them, Münâzara-i Tîğ u Kalem, written in rhyme and meter and in prose as a mixing form has been investigated. The critical text was prepared by comparing two copies from existing hand- writing copies of the work. The introduction part of the work contains the information about the cousing becom one for God, a poem praising the Prophet Muhammed, an eulogy for the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire in that time, and the information about the causes for writting the work, respectively. After this introduction part, it has the main part containing the discusions about the defances of preferences of pen and sword whit respect to each other under thirty chapters. In the work, pen and sword are symbols of science and army, respectively. Intelligence by bringing out gives the decision that pen is more preference than sword in the work. There are a lot of Arabic and Persian words and phrases in the work. Therefore, the language of the work is rather hard and it is an important example of the art of prose. The Turkish translations of the verse of the Quran, the Prophet Muhammed's sayings, and the Arabic phrases in the work have been added at the end of the thesis. Moreover, the index for the work has been prepared.
