Abstract This thesis is a study on Ibrahim al-Halabi, famous ottoman philosopher and theologian of the eighteenth century, who lived in Istanbul. Its major aim is to explore the ideas in his“Risala al-Hudus wa'l-Qidam”, the study is composed of three main chapters with an intrroduction. In my Introductory. Chapter I gave a brief account on his life and works and introduce him as persone. In the first chapter, I trauslated his above - mentioned Risala into Turkish. The second chapter contaims the critical edition of the Risala; and I shown the sources for his quotions in the foot-notes. In the third chapter, I tried to evaluate and to analyse his ideas concerning the contingency of the world and the predestination and man's action. Up to now, Ibrahim al-Halabi was an unknown person and non of his works was remained unpublished. There exists but a little thing on his life and man in the sources. Finally with this study I hope that I have contributed to the history of Ideas in Ottoman period.
