Özet
Bu tez, felsefe tarihinde ilk defa Platon'un felsefesinde sistematik olarak ele alınan 'Hen' (Bir) kavramı, bu kavramın felsefe tarihindeki kökenleri ve Platon felsefesindeki yeri üzerine yoğunlaşmaktadır. 'Bir / Hen', Platon'da mutlak ilke, ideaların ilkesidir. Bu kavram ilk defa pre-sokratiklerin arkhe (ilk ilke) arayışıyla ortaya çıkar. Bu aşamada çoklukta birlik tasarımından ulaşılmaya çalışılan birlik anlayışı, Platon'da çoklukun kendisinden türediği birlik olarak ele alınır. Ayrıca Platon felsefesinde varlık ve oluş probleminden bir-varlık kavramı türer. Platon felsefesinde merkezi bir öneme sahip olan Parmenides diyaloğunda Platon idealar kuramının arkhesi olarak bir kavramını sergiler. Platon'un biri, kendinde-bir, bir-varlık ve varolan-bir olarak üçlü bir kavramsal yapıya sahiptir. Arkhe olan kendinde-bir, varlıktan ötede bir konuma sahiptir. Platon'un Arkhe'sinde bir-güzel-iyi kavramları özdeştir ve aynı kavramsal bağlamları taşır. Son olarak, Platon'un idealar kuramı epistemik bir evren tasarımı sunar. Bu kuramda birin kendiliki, arkhe, idea, kinoun, ve telos kavramları ile özdeştir ve kendinde birin epistemolojisine ancak olumsuzlama ile ulaşılabilir.

The thesis concentrates on the concept of 'Hen / One' that was systematically treated for the first time in Plato's philosophy, the philosophical/historical roots of this concept as well as its place in Plato's philosophy. 'One / Hen' in Plato is the absolute principle, or the principle of the ideas. This concept appears for the first time in the concept of arche (first principle) in Pre-Socratic philosophers; at this stage the concept of unity is formed from the representation of the one in many, whereas in Plato the unity is treated as an entity from which the many is derived. Also, the concept of one-Being is derived from the question of Being and Becoming. In Parmenides, one of Plato's dialogues of central relevance, Plato displays the concept of One as the arche of his Theory of Ideas; Plato's One has a tri-partite conceptual structure as the One-in-itself, one-Being and existing-One. The One-in-itself , or arche, is qualified as having a presence/ reality 'beyond being'. In Plato's arche, the concepts of One-Beautiful-Good are identical and share the same conceptual contexts. Finally, Plato's Theory of Ideas posits an epistemic representation of the universe; in this theory the entity of the One is identical with the concepts of arche, idea, kinoun and telos, and epistemic attainment of the the One-in-itself is possible only via negation.
