SUMMARY The ma in purpose of this study which conducted at field and laboratories of Horticultural Department of Agricul tura l faculty, Ege University, is to assess the effect of KaHPO*, Ka>PO*, KNOa and PEG-600O on gerrnination and emergence of the carrot seeds <cv Nantes) in 199^ and i995 years. Two groups of experiment realized. At first group of experiment, it was aimed to assess optimal treatment periods and concentrationB för each chemicals. At second group of experiment priming effects of chemicals optimum in cocentrations were tested at stress conditions like İO°C and 30°C. The results obtained from ey.periments are as fallow5 1-öptimal treatments periods are i^, 9, 5, ^ and 5 day* f ör PEG-600O 3^E g/1, PEG-600O 273 g/1, % S-i> KN03, % 1~E KasHPO^anti"Al-S.K^PCUreBpectively. 2-Öptimal concentrations for each chemical are 273 g/1. PEG-&OOO, « 2-4 KNO», % İ-B K^HPO^. and % 1-2 KaPCU. 3-At lO^C,, % l K3PO*, gave the best germination rate V4ith 5i 90 rate. At 30*0, control and W2 KcaPO*» gave the best germination values. 4-it was concluded that ali the chemicals tested showed earlier and faster germination and emergence values then controlbothat1O°Cand30°C. _t-7a._ J O5- At 10°C5 mean gerınination time was 7.7 days f ör control while it was 4 »0~4.9 days for chemicals. At 30°C., ıriBan germination time was 4.1 days f ör control while it was 1.6-3.9 days for chemicals. At 10 C'C, control group reached the meart emergence time <E50) in Î6.SOO days v^hile treatment group reached in ie.OS5-15.4B7 days. it was also concluded that at 30 °C, control group reached E50 time in 4.737 days while treatment groups reach 3.437-4.5OO days. 6-in field e >s peri men t, it was determined that treatments were effective on seedling emergence rate and speed and also it caused early seedling emergence. 7-Treatments. group reached the germination and emergence time earlier than control groups. 8-Positive effect of the treatments continued up to the end of the emergence in field. it was seen that it is. possible to increase the percentage of the seedling. emergence f r om 59 &. to 63 tt w.ith these treatments. -79-
