Özet
Bu çalışma, petrole dayalı Yemen ekonomisindeki bütçe açığı ile cari işlemler açığı arasındaki nedensellik ilişkiyi analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Çalışma, bütçe açığı ile cari işlemler açığı arasında nedensellik pozitif bir ilişki olduğunu savunan Keynesci yaklaşımı ve bütçe açığı ile cari işlemler açığı arasında herhangi bir ilişkinin olmadığını ileri süren Ricardocu Denklik Hipotezi'ni test etmektedir. Bu çalışma, Yemen ekonomisi için 1990-2014 dönemi arasındaki yıllık verileri kullanarak ikiz açıklar hipotezinin geçerliğini incelemektedir. Çalışmada ADF birim kök testi, Engle-Granger modeli, Granger nedensellik analizi ve Toda-Yamamoto nedensellik testi kullanılmıştır. Sonuç olarak ikiz açık hipotezinin Yemen için 1990-2014 dönemi arasında geçerliği kabul edilmiş ve cari işlemler açığınden bütçe açığına doğru pozitif yönlü bir nedensellik ilişkisi kanıtlanmıştır.

This thesis aims to analyze the causal relationship between the budget deficit and the current account deficit in Yemen economy, which depends on oil. This study tested two hypotheses: the Keynesian proposal and the Ricardian Equivalence Hypothesis. the former hypothesis says there is a positive relationship between the budget deficit and the current account deficit, while the latter hypothesis states there is no relationship between the budget deficit and the current account deficit. This study examines the validity of the twin deficits hypothesis using the annual data of Yemen economy between the years 1990 and 2014. ADF unit root test, Engle-Granger model, Granger causality analysis and Toda and Yamamoto causality test were used in this paper. The results show the validity of twin deficits hypothesis for Yemen between 1990-2014 periods was accepted and a positive causal relationship was determined from current accounts to budget deficit.
