The number one reason of mortality and disability in children and adolescences is traumatic brain injury. Traumatic brain injury (TBI) in children, associated with significant deaths and impairments or morbidities in all around the world. Each year more than 50% children sustain a severe TBI, with long standing potentially adversely affected by unfavourable outcomes. The pathology and sequelae of paediatric TBI differ from adult. When an adult is injured, these deficits can become apparent in the months following the injury but there appear to be developmental windows for children wherein injury may only be detectable at a later stage of their maturation. Additionally, TBI in children, while the brain is in the state of rapid change and development, can affect every area of child's life, including cognition, behaviour, emotions, communication, thinking, physical abilities and personal characteristics. These adverse effects can create lifetime challenges for living and learning for children. Further, the degree of effect in brain injury varies very depend on the severity of injuries and location of brain. Overall, the holistic review of findings is examined the defining clinical definitions, causes, classification, pathophysiology of TBI and chronic aspect of cognitive, behavioural, physical, emotional and social outcomes after paediatric TBI in more detail, with the goal of providing current information and researches to better understand affected children. This literature review also provides meaningful conclusion and recommendation to update the reader and science of paediatric traumatic brain injury.
