86 SUMMARY ÇINKIR, Şakir.“ School Size And Its Relations To Student Achivement”. MA Thesis, University Of Ankara, Institute Of Social Sciences, Ankara, Turkey :1996, Page : IV-113. The purpose of this survey was to discover the“ School Size And Its Relations To Student Achivement ”at the secondary school (high School) in Turkey. The survey was restricted with the headmasters and teachers who worked in secondary schools in 1994-1995 in Ankara. The research was conducted by means of a qestionnaire given to the 14 schools headmasters and 101 teachers in fourteen schools in Ankara. There were fourty-one questions related to four topics : a: Personal informations, b: Schools size and their physical capacity, c: Student achivement, d:School buildings and educational programmes. The main findins were as fallows : 1. Educational equipment of the private schools were better than those of the state schools. 2. Student achivement on the ÖSYM (university exam) and at school were higher than those of the state schools. 3. Educational buildings of the private were beter than those of the state schools on appropriateness for education, health and security of children. 4. Neither state schools nor private schools buildirfjs were convenience for disabled students. 5. Design and arrangment of the private school for educational activities were better than those of the state schools. 6. Programmes of both private and state schools were difficult for students. Programmes of the state schools were full of useless and overlapping knowledge. On the other hand, private school's programmes were difficult, but they were developed for the needs of student and for the particular mission of these schools.
