Özet
Bu çalışmada 1838-45 tarihli Ereğli nüfus defterleri incelenmiş, XIX yüzyılın ortalarında Ereğli kazasına bağlı köylerin demografik yapısı üzerinde durulmuştur. Kayıtlara göre 1838-45 yılları arasında Ereğli kazasına bağlı 29 tane köy bulunmaktadır. Köylerin nüfusu, diğer kaza birimlerine göre daha düşüktür. Köylerde çekirdek aile yapısı görülmekte, hanelerde genellikle 1-4 arasında erkek yaşamaktadır. Piramitin tabanını çocukların ve gençlerin oluşturduğu bölgede, sağlıklı, genç ve dinamik bir nüfus hâkimdir. Hane reisleri çoğunlukla çiftçi ve rençberlerden oluşmakta, köylerden dışarıya çalışma amacıyla mevsimlik göçler yapılmaktadır. Bölgede 1843 yılında yaşanan, salgın hastalıklar ve ölümler nedeniyle köylerin nüfusu azalmıştır.

In this study, the Eregli population books dated 1838-45 were examined and the demographic structure of the villages connected to the Ereğli township in the middle of the XIX century are emphasized. According to the records, there are 29 villages belonging to the Ereğli township between 1838-45. The population of the villagers is lower than the other township units. In the villages, the core family structure is seen, and in the dwellings generally 1-4 male live. The pyramid base is dominated by a healthy, young and dynamic population in the region of children and young people. Household chiefs mainly consist of farmers and renters, and seasonal migrations are being made for the villagers to work outside. The population of the villages decreased due to epidemics and deaths in 1843.
