Özet

67 SUMMARY Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome is generally used synonymously with the term Myofascial Pain Syndrome Symptoms related with Temporomandibular Joint in 20% of the population at any period of their lives 100 patient with TMJS, which were included in our study, were classified under three groups. The first group which consisted of 40 subjects was instructed to perform postmanipulation exercise program. In the second group which consisted of 40 subjects post manipulation splint therapy was applied and selective reshaping carried out. The third group, which consisted of 20 subjects, was our control group. We applied post manipulation placebo TENS, on our patients in this group. The female ratio is 72% among our patients. The ages of our patients ranged between 15 and 55 with an awerage of 33,89.68 Our study resulted in a rate of 19% bilateral TMJS. Our patients mostly complained of pain (72%) followed by a clicking or grinding sensation in the Joint (64%). As a result of pre-and-post treatment axiographic and algometric examinations, it was concluded that the second group, in whom we instituted manipulation + splint therapy + occlusal equilibration, had significantly wider maximum painless oral opening and longer lateral and protrusive condylar projection compared to those in the other groups. On the other hand, significant differences were found in our group in whom controlled exercises were carried out compared to our control group in whom placebo TENS was applied.
