87 SUMMARY ( INFLUENCE OF SOPHIST PHILOSOPHY ON EURIPIDES' PLAY ) The philosophy of a certain time at a certain society inevitably effects the artists of the society. The influential ideas could be found in the art of the artist of the era. That is why, starting from the begining, the history of thought and the art of theatre are closely related to each other. Investigation of the relationships between the two, allows to evaluate an artistic period or a playwright in a systemic way and to reach realistic conclusions. In 5th. century B.C., sophist philosophy came out as a new and influential school of thought in their time. Euripides who lived in the same era, was also influenced by sophists and their philosophy. The present study which is based on the influences of sophist philosophy on Euripides' plays, tries to show the effects of sophism on these plays. In the introduction, discipliens of philosophy which prepared foundations of sophism were re-introduced and sophism was discussed, especially their view about human beings as a value.
