333 SUMMARY Behçet Necatigil (1916-1979),is one of the free poets who didn't join any literary group/stream of the republic time.He was a teacher.He produced radio plays essays resarch'and prepared,dictionary anthology and many translations from German.He was influenced by Divan poets,seven“Meşale”poets,Garip poets and 2nd modernists. His first poem was published by the name“Night and Mourning”in Varlık magazine(l October 1935,p.54)He signed his works first by the name Behçet Gönül, later Behçet Necati and finally Behçet Necatigil. Besides, he used somepen-names/pseudonyms like "Bedri Tezgit' and İzzet Geyve'.Necatigil, whose works have been translated into many foreign languages, won Yeditepe award for his book, Eski Toprak in 1956, and Turkish language Assocciation (TDK) poem award for Yaz Dönemi in 1964. Necatigil is a socialist realistin terms of art understanding.He generally touched the problems and hardships of the middle class. Some of the themes he examined/studied are as fol lows Home and Family,childhood, Youth, old age, industrialization,civilisation, love, literatu- re,Atatiirk, memoirs, loneliness and so forth. Primarily he wrote poems depended on events, but later he wrote modern poems which were difficult to understand. His language is pure.His style is lyrical and didactic, in conversational form. He doesn't address to the crowd geraly he used the liberal poetical technique. The poems of Necatigil are in general of culture type.He made a lot of use of Kuran's verses, hadiths and prophets experients, wonders of the friends of Allah/divine people, old Tur kish scriptures, otoman Divan literature, popüler literature and Tales as well as Eastern and wes tern mythologlesAdditionally he has trical to reflect his life in his poems teherefore his poetry is autobiographic. Necatigil has worked in radio plays just as he considered the uider and plot net work of events in his poems.His sentences are usually shortHe has especially made use of Islamic phi- losophy(Tasawuf). Behçet Necatigil, is one of the pioneers who made use of traditions of Turkish poetry in the republican epoch.He advised the young poets to learn the ottoman language and Divan li terature perfectly.Because, as he thought, a nation's literature is a whole with its historical pe riods. One cannot deny the literature of past periods. Necatigil has written many poems and he is considered among the counts greatest of poets in the Turkish pepublic.He also is femous for the radio plays he has written and has beco me the pioneer of this genre.
