125 SUMMARY The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between job satisfaction and life satisfaction among civil servants. In the introduction the subject, the framework of the study and method are explained. The second chapter consist of two main subtitles: job satisfaction and life satisfaction. In this chapter, the conceptual framework of the study is presented. In the third chapter, a number of different approaches discussing the relationship between people and their work is reviewed. These are Scientific Management Approach, Maslow's Need Hierarchy Theory, Two-Factor Theory (Motivation-Hygier. Theory), Activation Theory, Job Characteristics Theory, Social Information Processing Approach and Dispositional Approach. In the fourth chapter, the investigation and the classification of studies in the literature are introduced. Only some specific studies which are directly related to my study are reviewed. Some empirical and methodological results are summarized in this chapter. The fifth chapter includes the explanation, the methodology and evaluation of the survey. The questionnaire which measures the job and life satisfaction level was applied to civil servants. The respondents for this study were 88 teacher and 85 officials. 26 of teachers and 37 of officials are men while 61 of teachers and 46 of officials are women. A correlation between job and life satisfaction, the period of time ?fhich the respondents work in his/her work and job and life satisfaction levels, the period of time which the respondents married and job and life- satisfaction levels, and free time satisfaction and job and life satisfaction levels are found. The results show that there is a significant difference between women's and126 men's job and life satisfaction levels and teachers' and officials' job and life satisfaction levels. In the conclusion, it is confirmed that there is a relationship between job and life satisfaction, and sex and job characteristics affect the level of job and life satisfaction.
