Özet

Tez,“giriş, iki bölüm ve sonuç”tan oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde via negativa'nın kavramsal çerçevesi belirlenip ve tarihsel arkaplanına yer verilecektir. Negatif teolojinin metafiziksel, epistemolojik ve semantik boyutları tespit edilecek ve tezin semantik boyut üzerine yoğunlaşılacaktır.Birinci bölümde via negativa'nın metafiziksel ve epistemolojik boyutları incelenmektedir. Tanrı'da ontolojik ve semantik anlamda hiçbir ayrımın olamayacağını iddia eden basitlik ilkesine dayanan metafiziksel ve Tanrı'nın yalnızca ne olmadığının bilinebileceğini savunan epistemolojik iddiaların, semantik iddiaya kaynaklık ettiği iddia edilecek, söz konusu iddiaların haklı bir temele dayanıp dayanmadıkları ve tutarlı olup olmadıkları incelenecektir.İkinci bölümde via negativa'nın metafiziksel yönü üzerinde yoğunlaşılacaktır. Bu bağlamda Tanrı hakkında negatif bir konuşma biçimini öngören çeşitli teoriler ele alınacak, bu teorilerin, Tanrı hakkında tutarlı ve anlamlı bir şekilde konuşmaya imkân sağlayıp sağlamadığı incelenip, semantik iddianın doğruluk değerinin, metafiziksel ve epistemolojik iddialarla doğru orantılı olduğu tartışılacaktır. Sonuç bölümünde ise konuyla ilgili genel değerlendirmeler yapılacaktır.

Özet (Çeviri)

The present study consists of introduction, two main parts and conclusion. The introduction will offer the theoretical framework along with the historical background for the concept of via negativa. It will be argued that negative theology has metaphysical, epistemological and semantic dimensions, and the present study will focus on the semantic aspects. The first main part will investigate the metaphysical and epistemological dimensions of via negativa. The same part will suggest that the semantic claims are constituted of the metaphysical ideas which reject ontological and semantic divisions in God depending on the principle of simplicity, and the epistemological claims which aver that God can only be known by knowing what he is not. The soundness and coherence of such claims will be analyzed here as well.The second main part focuses primarily on the metaphysical aspects of via negativa. In this regard, various theories that argue for the possibility of talking about God only in negative terms will be overviewed. It will be analyzed whether these theories enable us to talk about God in meaningful and coherent ways. The same part will suggest that the truth value of semantic idea is dependent on the metaphysical and epistemological claims. The conclusion includes an overview and general evaluations.
