- 308 - water, plants, flowers have been used to get rid of sterility. Turk attempts to avoid sterility by his beliefs. To illustrate* he Goes to the temples, springs, mountains, stones, and sacrifices animals. In this study, jjurks point of view and treatment methods about sterility cases presented and the age of these beliefs discussed. The beliefs about pregnancy are interested in sex of baby, his future, and mothers health during pregnancy period. Beliefs strongiy try to provide excellent feeding for mother. Moreover beliefs are about wishes about baby and his protection, determining his sexuality and making birth healthier. These beliefs are based on more similarities. They are visible and even touchable. Por example, in the house of the woman giving the birth, windows, doors, everything locked are unlocked and opened, even buckles are opened. The beliefs about the period after birth are about the first days of the mother and baby, devils affect on them, diseases they suffer, what they should ead, growing a health and happy child, first 40 days of baby, his nails, teeth, his way of speaking and stepping and his growth. These beliefs have rich contents. Among them even only the ones about cutting umbilical cord are so strong that they indicate existence of Turkish side in- these beliefs'. The beliefs about birth reflect the oldest way of Txirk beliefs. Ifrom the instinct aspect point of view, they at least- 309 - as old as birth. Since all Turks used to share sane land at the same tine once, these belief's do not have a lot of differences even if lurk communities far from each other in todays world. especially furks in Bulgaria and in Anatolia have almos" sane contents about the birth beliefs, f'hese beliefs can also be seen in the tradition of communities in Anatolia and in Bulgaria that say that they are unfamiliar with lurk. Köy ve civar köyler hakkında bilgiler bu mü lakata ve notlarıma dayanmaktadırlar. : Çamdere ırmağı boyu Veyseller köyü ve Bezdüven dağına kadar uzanan civar köyler. Veyseller köyünde 1982 - 1985 yılları arasında öğretmen olarak kaldım. Mülakat yapmaya hiçbir imkân yoktu. Bilgiler tamamiyle notlarıma dayanmaktadır.
