SUMMARY Globalization has gained credit in the last years throughout the whole world. Parallel to this, the concept of competition advanced by overcoming the borders and all the firms throughout the world began to feel the same pressure. Every country tried to increase their efforts in the fields of trade and industry so that they will not get any harm from these changes. In Turkey the majority is formed by the small and medium sized enterprises. Talking about increasing their contribution to economy, it is important to analyze the coordination systems and mechanisms. By using these systems Turkey's economic condition can be improved leading to an advantageous position in the global competition. The first step to take is to update and modernize the systems due to current competitive conditions. At the same time to increase their contribution to economy, new structures which are in need should be established, new systems and tools which need to be used, must put in action as quick as possible. When analyzing the firms according to their size in Turkey, small and medium sized ones are mostly faced. Such an establishment has both negative and positive sides. The essential point here is that, the disadvantages should be transferred into advantages and the advantages should be made use of as much as possible. If small and medium sized establishments work in coordination with similarly structured firms and come together to reach a single aim, it would surely be easier for them to reach success. Such a system will help them a lot to overcome the problems that they are facing which are generally caused by their size. In our country, small and medium sized organizations should work together around their common goals, leading to new formations, this would surely make most of the things easier for them. These formations will help them to largen their volume of work and act positively on the general economic conditions. 239These are the basic reasons stating why it is important and useful to collect information about the small and medium sized enterprises coordination systems and mechanisms. The fact that, it also helps to analyze the current uses, should not be forgotten. The information that is collected can lead to new formations and the information about the current uses will surely help entrepreneurs to begin some processes in further steps. Small and medium sized firms forms the basis in Turkey's economy. Their importance must be explained and arrangements to make them work more effectively should be made. It is important for the small and medium sized firms to get way from the logic that waits help from outside organizations or the government. Rather they should form systems and. mechanisms which can coordinate them within themselves. 240
