Özet

Uwe Timm'in ilk romanı

Özet (Çeviri)

Hot Summer, Uwe Timm's first novel, was published in the year of 1974. In the novel, composed of three parts, it is narrated that how the protagonist Ulrich Krause became gradually involved in political affairs with his coming from Munich to the university in Hamburg. In the background of the events narrated within the framework of ?bildungsroman? there is 1968?s Students? Movement in Munich and especially in Hamburg. In this study, the mentioned novel is analysed in terms of its theme, pattern and symbol. Here the concepts of theme, pattern and symbol are explained with different descriptions within the framework of comprehensive science of letters. These concepts are classified and examples are given from the novel by depending on significant source books. It is put forth that these concepts, examined in the novel, have also political, social and culturel codes. On the other hand, the themes of ?revenge on past? and ?historical consciousness? are included to the analysis as the reader constantly comes across with these themes in author?s Hot Summer and another works in terms of theme and pattern.
