Özet

ÖZET Bilgisayar destekli İngilizce Öğretimin öğrenciler üzerindeki etkisi ve bilgisayara ve bilgisayar destekli İngilizce yazma becerisine yönelik tutumları. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı bilgisayar destekli İngilizce öğretimin Gazi Üniversitesi Gazi Eğitim Fakültesi İngiliz Dili Eğitimi 3. sınıf Öğrencilerin üzerindeki etkisini incelemek ve bilgisayar destekli yazma becerisine karşı tutumlarını incelemektir. Bu araştırmanın ömeklemi 1993 güz döneminde 3. sınıfta olup Bilgisayar destekli İngilizce Öğretimi 313 dersini alan 42 öğrenciden oluşmuştur. Bu araştırmada şu ölçekler kullanılmıştır. Bilgisayara yönelik tutum ölçeği, bu ölçek Dambort tarafından 1 985'te geliştirilmiştir. Yazma becerisi tutum ölçeği ve Gözlem ölçeği araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilmiştir. Bilgisayar tutum ölçeği bağımsız iki grup için t testi ile test edilmiştir. Yazma becerisi tutum ölçeği yüzdesel olarak analiz edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin bilgisayara ve bilgisayar destekli yazma becerisine karşı tutumları oldukça olumlu bir sonuç göstermiştir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin % 94'ü bilgisayar destekli yazma dersini tercih ettiklerini belirtmişlerdir. Bu sonuçların ışığı altında, bilgisayar destekli İngilizce Öğretimin seçilen ömeklem içindeki öğrencilerin bilgisayara ve bilgisayar destekli yazma becerisine karşı tutumları üzerinde olumlu etkisi olduğu sonucuna ulaşılabilinir.

ABSTRACT The main aim of the present study is to explore the effects of using computers on learning English in general, and students attitudes toward computer and writing with a word processor in particular. An Introductory CALL course YiE 313 was offered to the third year students in the English Language Teaching Department, Gazi Faculty of Education, Gazi University during the fall semester in 1993. Thus, the sample consisted 42 third year students who have taken YIE 313 CALL course. The first chapter in which assumptions about the study are made, attempts to give the background to the study as well as the aim and the scope. The second chapter reviews literature relevant to the subject. The third chapter provides the definitions of the terms which are frequently used in CALL. The access to CALL is also given with relevant examples. Additionally, it presents a guide-line of software evaluation. The fourth and the fifth chapters are devoted to the conduct of the study and analysis of the data and findings. The computer attitude scale (CATS) was utilized along with the writing attitude questionnaire and observation check-list. The result of the present study denoted that students in the English Language Teaching Department, Gazi Faculty of Education, Gazi University had positive attitudes toward computers and writing with a word processor. The last chapter includes a brief summary of the study and further remarks.
