Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı Çukurova Üniversitesi Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulu öğrencileri ile Eğitim Fakültesinin çeşitli bölümlerinde (sınıf öğretmenliği, resim öğretmenliği) öğrenim gören öğrencilerin sosyal benlik algısı düzeylerini çeşitli değişkenlere göre incelemektir. Araştırmaya 270 kadın 224 erkek olmak üzere toplam 495 öğrenci katılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak Sosyal Karşılaştırma Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Yüksekokulu 1. ve 4. sınıf öğrencilerinin sosyal benlik algısı puanlarının 2. ve 3. sınıf öğrencilerinden daha yüksek, hobisi olanların, olmayanlara oranla daha yüksek, arkadaş grubu olanların olmayanlara oranla daha yüksek, okudukları bölümden memnun olan öğrencilerin, memnun olmayanlara oranla daha yüksek, bölümü isteyerek seçenlerin, seçmeyenlere oranla daha yüksek, akademik başarı düzeyi iyi olanların zayıf olanlara oranla daha yüksek olduğu ortaya konmuştur (p?.05). Bununla birlikte sosyal benlik algısı puanlarının aktif spor yapıp yapmama durumlarına, aileleri ile birlikte yaşama durumlarına ve flörtlerinin olup olmama durumuna göre ise değişiklik göstermediği ortaya çıkmıştır .

The purpose of this study was to investigate social esteem of students of Cukurova University School of Physical Education and Sports and Faculty of Education (primary school teacher education and art teacher education). Totally 495 students, including 270 women and 224 men, participated in the study. Social Comparison scale was used to collect data. Results demonstrated that students from Physical Education and Sports Department gathered higher social comparison score compared to students of other departments, 1st and 4th grade students gathered higher scores than 2nd and 3rd grade students, students having hobby gathered higher scores compared to students with no hobby, students who have friends gathered higher scores compared to students who have no friends, students who selected their own department gathered higher scores compared to students who selected their own department unwillingly, students who are academically successful gathered higher scores compared to students who are academically unsuccessful (p?.05). In addition, no difference found between students who actively participate in sports and inactive students, students who live with their families and who live alone, and students who have flirt and who have not. It is suggested that these variables have to be considered to increase students? level of positive comparison.
