Özet
Bu çalışma, bağımsız iki örnekten elde edilen veriler test edilmek istendiğinde kullanılan, Mann-Whitney, Kolmogorov-Smirnov ve Wald-Wolfowitz testlerinin, spesifik şartlar altında, istatistiksel güçlerini ve I. tip hata oranlarını karşılaştırmak amacıyla yapılmıştır. Bu bağlamda çalışmaya konu olan her bir testin varyans heterojenliği, farklı çarpıklık ve farklı basıklık durumlarında göstermiş oldukları güçler ve I. tip hata oranları büyük ve küçük örnek durumları için ayrı ayrı incelenmiştir.Çalışma, hipotez testleri hakkında genel bilgilerin verildiği birinci bölüm, Mann-Whitney, Kolmogorov-Smirnov ve Wald-Wolfowitz testlerinin varsayımları ve veri düzenlemeleri, uygulanabilir hipotezleri ve küçük ve büyük örnek durumları için test istatistikleri ve karar kuralları formüllerinin kapsamlı bir şekilde incelendiği ikinci bölüm ve çalışmaya konu olan testlerin I. tip hata oranları ve istatistiksel güçlerinin karşılaştırıldığı uygulama bölümü olmak üzere üç bölümden oluşmaktadır.Tezin ilk iki bölümünde, yerli ve yabancı çok sayıda güncel kaynaklarla teze ait teorik çerçeve şekillendirilmiş, tezin son bölümü olan uygulama bölümünde ise Mann-Whitney, Kolmogorov-Smirnov ve Wald-Wolfowitz testlerinin I. tip hata oranları ve istatistiksel güçleri SAS 9.00 istatistiksel analiz programında, Monte Carlo Simülasyonu kullanılarak karşılaştırılmıştır.Çalışmadan elde edilen sonuçlara göre; Kolmogorov-Smirnov testinin tüm durumlarda I. tip hata oranlarının diğer testlerin I. tip hata oranlarından daha düşük olduğu ve varyans heterojenliği ön şartı altında ise genel olarak küçük örneklerde, Mann-Whitney testinin, büyük örneklerde de Wald-Wolfowitz testinin istatistiksel güçlerinin diğer testlerin istatistiksel güçlerinden daha büyük olduğu tespit edilmiştir.

The purpose of this study is to compare, in specific conditions, type one error rate and statistical powers of Mann-Whitney, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, and Wald-Wolfowitz tests, which are used to test the data obtained from two independent samples. In this context, variance heterogeneity of each test, statisticals powers in different skewness and kurtosis cases, and the type one error rate of each studied test were examined separately for the conditions of big and small samples.This study consists of three sections which are the explanations of the hypothesis tests, detailed examination of the hypothesis and data arrangements, the applicable hypothesis and test statistics for the big and small samples, and the formula of decisions rules, and comparisons of the type one error rate and statistical power of the studied tests.After forming the theoretical framework of this study in the first two sections (by using national and international current resources), the type one error rates and statistical powers of Mann-Whitney, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, and Wald-Wolfowitz tests were compared by using Monte Carlo Simulation in SAS 9.00, the statistical analysis program.According to the results of this study, the type one error rate of Kolmogorov-Smirnov test is smaller than that of other tests in all conditions and under the condition of variance heterogeneity, while the statistical power of Mann-Whitney test is greater than other tests in small samples, the statistical power of Wald-Wolfowitz test is greater than other tests in big samples.
