Karasi Sancak was founded in the region south west of Marmara known as Mysia before Byzantine Empire. The region became a Turkish-Muslim land only in the XIII.century, although the first steps had been taken in the XI. century. After the reign of the sons of Karasi, The Ottoman had the sovereignty on the region. Before XV. century, it happened some variations and changements of short periods in this region; but after the XV. century the region took a transformation of classical administra tion, and the Turkish-Muslim population lived there. Karasi Sancak which had no side to the sea of Marmara, had the same bordering as the other sancaks of Biga, Hüdâvendigâr, Kütahya, and Saruhan; it had a long border at the seaside of the Ege Sea. Karasi Sancak, the agricultural production of which was sufficient to itself, was even exporting its pro ducts, its fruits and its vegetables. Karasi Sancak was developed by its animals products. It had a great system of trans pertation and communication with its neighbours. It was a good land where the religious and social life was gradually developed. Our study will surely help to be solved many ques tions dealing with the region which are incomprehensible actually in our days. 333
