Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı; Fen ve Teknoloji dersinde ?İnsan ve Çevre? ünitesinin işlenişinde ?Probleme Dayalı Öğrenme? yaklaşımının 7.sınıf öğrencilerinin akademik başarıları üzerine etkisini belirlemektir.Çalışmanın örneklemini, Afyonkarahisar ili Fethibey İlköğretim Okulu ve Çayırbağ İlköğretim Okulu 7. sınıfta okuyan 82 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Uygulama 2007-2008 Eğitim- Öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Fethibey İlköğretim Okulunun 41 öğrencisi probleme dayalı öğrenme yönteminin kullanıldığı deney 1 grubunu, Çayırbağ İlköğretim Okulu'nun 41 öğrencisi 5E modelinin kullanıldığı deney 2 grubunu oluşturmuştur.Uygulama, haftada dört ders saati olmak üzere 4 haftada tamamlanmıştır. ?İnsan ve Çevre? ünitesi, deney 1 grubunda araştırmacı tarafından probleme dayalı öğrenme yöntemi ile, deney 2 grubunda ise Çayırbağ İlköğretim Okulu Fen ve Teknoloji öğretmeni tarafından 5E modeli ile işlenmiştir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak ?İnsan ve Çevre? ünitesi başarı testi kullanılmıştır.Araştırma hipotezlerinin test edilmesinde, SPSS 15.0 paket programı kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre, deney 1 ve deney 2 gruplarına uygulanan ön test ve son test arasında anlamlı bir farklılık olduğu görülmüştür. Bu sonuçlar, öğrencilerin ?İnsan ve Çevre? ünitesi ile ilgili kavramları öğrenmeleri ve konu ile ilgili bilgileri anlamlandırma başarıları üzerine, probleme dayalı öğrenme yönteminin ve 5E modelinin etkili olduğunu göstermektedir. Ancak kullanılan yöntemlerin birbirlerine karşı üstünlükleri bakımından aralarında önemli bir farklılık gözlenmemiştir.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of problem based learning in ?Human and Environment? unit which is a unit of science and technology lesson, on the achievement of student.Sample of the study consists of 82 seventh grade students attending to Fethibey Primary School and Çayırbağ Primary School in Afyonkarahisar. The study was carried out in the second term of 2007-2008 education year. 41 students of Fethibey Primary School formed the first experiment group in which the problem-based method was used and 41 students of Çayırbağ Primary School formed the second experiment group in which the 5E method was used.The study lasted 4 weeks, 4 course hours a week. The unit ? Human and the Environment? was taught with the problem-based method to the first experiment group by the researcher and with the 5E method to the second experiment group by the teacher in Çayırbağ Primary School. ? Human and the Environment? achievement test of was used as a data collecting insrument in this study.In testing the research hypothesis, SPSS 15.0 package program was used. According to the results, it was seen that there was a statistically significraat mean difference between the preliminary and final test applied to the first and second experiment groups. These results show that problem-based learning method and 5E method are effective on the students? learning the concepts about the ? Human and the Environment? unit and their success in giving meaning to the information about the subject. However, no difference was observed between the two methods regarding to their superiority.
