Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı, sosyal bilimler alanında 1990'lı yıllardan bu yana yoğun tartışmalara sahne olan ulus-devlet olgusunu tüm yönleriyle ele almak ve ulus-devletin 21. yüzyıl dünya sistemindeki yerini sorgulamaya çalışmaktır. Bu bağlamda, öncelikle ulus-devlet olgusu bir model analizi çerçevesinde ele alınmış, ulus-devleti meydana getiren kurumlar, dinamikler ve süreçler kapsamlı bir biçimde incelenmiştir. Ayrıca, çalışmamızda ulus-devletin temel varlık nedenlerinden biri olan ve onun ideolojisi olma niteliği taşıyan ?milliyetçilik? konusuna özel bir önem verilmiştir.Günümüzde küreselleşme tartışmalarının ulus-devletin bekası ile ilgili merkezi bir önemi bulunmaktadır. Bu nedenle, küreselleşme olgusu, ekonomik, siyasal ve kültürel boyutlarıyla ele alınarak çalışmamızda etraflıca irdelenmiştir. Özellikle, ulus-devlet ve küreselleşme tartışmalarında literatürde ?Radikal?, ?Şüpheci? ve ?Dönüşümcü? olarak bilinen üç ana eğilime tezde geniş bir biçimde yer verilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca, çalışmada küreselleşme sürecinin yarattığı kurumlar olarak değerlendirilen bölgeselleşme ve yerelleşme olguları da ulus-devlete yönelik potansiyel tehditler alt başlığı altında ele alınmıştır.Çalışmada buna ilave olarak, bölümünde, daha önce tanımlanan ve sınırları çizilen ulus-devlet modelinin, küreselleşme, bölgeselleşme ve yerelleşme süreçleriyle girdiği etkileşim sonucu aldığı yeni hal bir değerlendirmeye tabi tutulmuş; mevcut durumda ulus-devletin işlevlerinin nasıl şekillendiği sorusuna cevap aranmıştır. Sonuç olarak, çalışmada öne sürülen bilgiler ışığında, 21. yüzyıl küresel sisteminde ulus-devletin konumuna ilişkin öngörülerde bulunulmuştur.

The aim of this study is to analyze multi-dimensions of the concept of the nation-state, as one of the most debateble issue since 1990?s in the social sciences sphere and to discuss the position of the nation-state in the 21th century.In this context, the concept of nation-state has been received priority consideration in the framework of model analysis and then the institutions, dynamics and processes which constitute the nation-state are studied. In this circumtances, the concept of ?nationalism? which is one of the main ontologic reasons of the nation-state and involving in its ideological side has particularly been emphasized.Contemparyly, the discussions on the term ?globalization? are the center of debate concerning the continuation of the nation-state. Within this framework, the concept of globalization has been deeply analyzed with its political, economic and cultural dimensions. Especially, the main three tendencies, called ?Radical?, ?Skeptical? and ?Transformation? in the literature in the areas of discussions on nation-state and globalization are widely elaboreted. Moreover, the concepts of ?regionalization? and ?localization? which are seen as the tendencies created by globalization are argued.Finally, the nation-state model, which is determined and formed boundaries beforehand is assessed in the light of its new form at the end of interaction with globalization, regionalization and localization. In addition, the study attemps to respond the question whether the existing conditions affect the function of nation-state.The study is concluded by developing projections concerning the position of nation-state towardas the 21 st century?s global system.
