VI ABSTRACT Masters Thesis EFFECT OF SEEDING TIME SEEDING DENSITY ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS IN FLAX (Unum usi tatissimum L.) Zekeriya UZUN Ankara University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Agronomy Supervisor: Prof. Dr. NeŞer ARSLAN 1992, page: 66 Jury: Prof. Dr. Neşet ASRLAN Prof.Dr. Celal ER Assoc. Prof.Dr. Halis ARIOĞLU This research was conducted in the experimantal field at the Department of Agronomy, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Ankara in 1990. SARI-85 was used as the breeding variety in the study. Main plots of seeding times (in March and April) as main plots and the first sub-plots were about row spaces (15, 30,45 cm) and the second sub-plots were about seeds amounts in one replication. Four replications were used according to the split-split plot design. At the end, it was found out that the average number of plants per square meter was 445.1? the height of plant was 51.8 cm; the fist branching height was 35.2 cm; the branche number per plant was 8.4? the number of branhing from below side was 1.7; the capsule number per plant was 29.1; the seed number per capsule was 8.1; the biological yield was 297.6 kg/da? the stem yield was 217.5 kg/da; the seed yield was 79.9 kg/da? the harvest index was 27.1 %; the weight of 1000 seeds was 6.0 g; the ratio of oil 48.1 % and the yield of oil was 38.5 kg/da for the first seeding time (in March). On the other hand, for the second seeding time (In April), it was found out that the average number of the plants per square meter was 612.5? the height of plants was 39.4 cm; first branching height was 28.7 cm; the branch number per plant was 5.8; the number of branching from below side was 1.2; the number of capsule per plant was 12.5; the number of seed per capsule was 7.3? the bological yield was 239.0 kg/da; the yield of stem yield was 181.0 kg/da? the yield of seed was 59.1 kg/da; the harvest index was 25.0 %, the weight of 1000 seeds was 6.1 g, the ratio of oil 47.8 % and yield of oil was 28.2 kg/da. The highest seed yield was obtained when 15 cm row space and 10 kg were seeded per decare in the fi,rst seeding (In March), While, in the second seeding (in April), the highestVI seed-yield was taken when 30 cm row space and 6 kg were seeded per decare. Because of the fact that the data supplied in the first seeding time (in March) had showed little bit heigher values as compared to the data of the second seeding time (in April), it appared that the seeding must be done as early as possible in spring.
