This study attemps to show the statistical inference aspects of two-parameter exponential distributed lifetime data observed under type II progressive censorıing with random removals. In a survival analysis set up, the number of units removed at each failure time is taken as a discrete uniform distribution first, then a binomial distribution model is employed for it. Maximum likelihood estimators of the concered parameters and their distributions and confidence intervals are derived. The expected time required to complete a designed test, a life test under this censoring scheme, is computed and a numerical study of expected test time is performed Furthermore, a study on actuarial risk management is presented using the criteria of end of period reserves and solvency under a model of loss events that follows progressive type II censoring scheme. The developed method models loss events with Binomial and Exponential distributions for their claim number and size quantities, respectively. Distribution of total loss amount is found and according to its properties, the risk management issues regarding reserves and solvency are discussed. 2007, 96 pages
