SUMMARY Jesus, in the view of the Quran, is one of the most important prophets. It says about him that, he was one of the long line of prophets who had been sent to the people of this earth; that he was a Messenger whose guidance and teachings were a reaffirmation of the guidan ce which the prophets before hem had brought, and were a preparation for the guidance which the prophet coming af ter him would bring 0 The author, in the first chapter of his thesis, ex amines the important Christological problems according ta the Christian sources and shows that the message and teac hings of Jesus were corrupted by Paul who founded the church on the doctrine of the divinity of Jesus, original sin, atonement and redemption. None of these doctrines are to be found within the Gospels; since they were not taught by Jesus. They' were Paul's idea which he took from the Gno- stisism and the Mystery Religions. The doctrine of atone ment and redemption teaches that Christ who was of God took on human form and became Jesus, who then died for mankind to atone for all its sins. The consequence of this doctri ne is that a man is not responsible for his actions and that he will not be held to account for them after his death; for whatever he does he yet believes he will be re deemed by“Christ's sacrifice”. In the second chapter, the author examines the same Christological problems according to the Quran amd. clearly shows that it rejects all Christian doctrines and calls the people of the Book to Tevhid, e.g. to the doctrine of the oneness of God.
